“Until the time came to fulfill His Word, the Lord tested Joseph’s character.”
Psalm 105:19 (NLT)
OCTOBER 10 - Tucking her Bible into the very bottom of her purse, she dare not take it out until after work when the office was completely empty, with no one around to make jokes about her “strict” lifestyle, causing her heart to beat rapidly and her eye make-up to run. And furthermore, how could she show up at choir practice that night if her emotions were all out of whack, incited by some crazy incident that happened at work? That sure wouldn’t look good, would it?
Did you know that the proof of a man’s character is found in his daily actions? Our actions reveal who we truly are. As we travel through life, we encounter many people who appear to be one way, but when they are alone, they are completely different people.
We must clearly understand that true character is who we are when no one is looking. Never forget that God sees us at all times. He sees us at home, when we are traveling, when we are alone—He steadfastly records every one of our actions. We cannot fool God. We may fool others, but God knows the things we hide.
Satan attempts to fuel the desires of our flesh and bring them out into the open. He is on a constant pursuit of baiting our flesh to embrace sin. As we choose to surrender our lives to the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to deny what our flesh demands of us. We then have the ability to live a life that is pleasing to God.
Father, I thank You that I refuse to bow my knew to the desires of my flesh. Instead, I surrender my life to Your Spirit, disciplining my body and causing it to come into line with Your Word. I am a person of noble character.
