It Is A Lonely Journey Across The Narrow Bridge Of Truth

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
Matthew 7:13–14 (NKJV)

“From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve, ‘Do you also want to go away?’ But Simon Peter answered Him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.’”
John 6:66–68 (NKJV)

NOVEMBER 12 - Truth is one thing everyone needs, but few are willing to embrace it. The master of all teachers, the Most High God in human flesh, was not even able to convince men of the truth. Jesus told us, “…narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life…” Truth is not always the easy route because truth rightly exposes people, and then righteously sets people free.

We must embrace the truth of God’s Word concerning all areas of our lives if we ever desire to enjoy the rewards that come as a result of eternal life. We must not be of those who turned their backs on the truth that Jesus spoke. As Jesus said to the disciples, so He says to us, “Do you also want to go away?”

I am confident we will all reply as Peter did, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” Crossing the narrow bridge of truth determines how much freedom you will one day come to enjoy.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that You have the words of eternal life and I enter by the narrow gate to find life. I embrace truth though it may not be the easy route, for I desire the reward of eternal life. My heart retains Your Word.

The Most Valueable Person You Will Ever Encounter In Life Is An Authentic Problem Solver

“This man Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, has a sharp mind and is filled with divine knowledge and understanding. He can interpret dreams, explain riddles, and solve difficult problems. Call for Daniel, and he will tell you what the writing means.”
Daniel 5:12 (NLT)

APRIL 19 - Mind-baffling dreams, unexplained prophecies, futuristic visions. Daniel was known as a man who could solve difficult problems. His devotion to excellence and growth was unprecedented, and those traits brought him before greatness. His rewards were no laughing matter—high positions of governmental authority in one of the greatest empires of all time, an array of lavish riches, fine clothing, and honor. At times, like the one mentioned in this verse, Daniel was the sole individual who could solve the problem at hand. That made him the most valuable person around. So, how about you?

• Can the same be said of you, that you have a daily commitment to excellence and growth?
• Do you prepare to solve greater problems?
• Do you make yourself available for those who can bring promotion to your life?

As we’ve seen with Daniel, there is a hefty price to pay for these noble ideals, but as we’ve also seen, the reward is well worth it. May God help you to recognize and solve the problems that will bring the greatest return to your life!

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that like Daniel, a spirit of excellence lives inside of me. I thank You for helping me recognize the problems around me and for giving me the grace I need to solve them.

It took Michelangelo six years to carve one of his greatest works, the magnificent statue of King David. When asked why his masterpiece took so long, his reply was simple: “Once I found a slab of marble that I could see David in, all that was left was to chip away everything that was not David.”

You are God’s masterpiece. God placed something great within you that no man can take away, no circumstance can assail, and no words can destroy. The key to unveiling your true potential lies in learning how to chip away everything that is not a part of who God called you to be. Live Everyday As Though You Have Something Good To Give

“Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.”
2 Corinthians 9:10 (NIV)

FEBRUARY 1 - Yesterday we talked about promotion, and how the priest Mattathias began the Feast of Hanukkah, which is still celebrated in Jewish homes today. But do you know the story behind the “Menorah,” the nine-candled stand that sits in many Jewish homes during this celebratory time? While the Jews celebrated the return of their temple, they encountered a lamp with only a one-day supply of oil.

Miraculously, God gave enough illumination to the candelabrum, allowing it to burn for eight extra days and nights. During Hanukkah, one candle in the menorah is lit each day to remember this miracle that God so wondrously gave. The Scriptures promise us that God gives seed to the person who desires to sow. Some may say that they having nothing to give, but that is never the case as far as God is concerned. Take a look around and think:

  • What do I have that can become a blessing for another?
  • Do I have something material like money, clothes, books, etc.?
  • What about intangible things like a great attitude, a thankful heart, or a helping hand?

You always have something you can sow. God would be a liar if you truly had nothing. Change your mind about how you see your life. Rather than looking for people to solve your problems, find out what you can do to solve theirs. As always, God is faithful to His Word, giving illumination, providing seed as you “enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.”

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You for providing me with seed to sow and for making me a blessing wherever I go.
