Time Is The Tool Given To You By God Through Which He Expects You To Change The World

“So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise.
Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days.
Don’t act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT)

NOVEMBER 24 - Twisting the keys into the door, the twenty-eight-year-old banker stuffed them back into his pocket, the tangled keys cushioned by some sort of paper. Oh yeah—that’s the tract I was going to give to that new teller with all the problems. I’ll have plenty of time to give it to him tomorrow, won’t I, Lord?

God gave all of us a commission to reach the ends of the earth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This will not only take our resources, but it will also require of us our time. All of us have been given twenty-four hours in a day with which we are to change the world around us. Whether it is in the workplace, social arena, home, or church, we must look at each hour as an opportunity to solve problems and add value to those with whom we associate.

The next time we go to work, we must see those eight hours as a gift from Heaven giving us the ability to influence and impact those for whom we work, and those with whom we live. The day we begin to use our time as a tool to change our world is the day the body of Christ begins to touch the entire world.

Father, I thank You for giving to me the gift of time. I choose to use my time wisely so I can impact my world for You. I refuse to act thoughtlessly, but I will understand what You want and what I am to do.

All Failure Is Undeniably Linked To A Disregarded Instruction

“My child, listen to me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life. I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths. If you live a life guided by wisdom, you won’t limp or stumble as you run. Carry out my instructions; don’t forsake them. Guard them, for they will lead you to a fulfilled life.”
Proverbs 4:10–13 (NLT)

NOVEMBER 13 - Cicero, Illinois – (c. 1925) While mercilessly teased at the electric plant where she worked, the immigrant teenager did not relent; she read her Bible at lunch, no matter what. It didn’t matter that they
dubbed her, “Holy Helen;” “Here comes Holy Helen,” they taunted. “She’s reading her Bible all the day long.” But beginning in her teenage years, all the way until her death in 1980, Helen’s life was successful— spiritually, emotionally, socially, and personally.

The Word of God constantly points us in the direction of success in all areas of life. We have the blueprint of success achieved by the men and women of God who, like Helen, faithfully ran this race before us. This blueprint shows us the reward of a life filled with wisdom. The only time we have breakdowns in our lives is simply because we miss, disobey, or disregard an instruction. We basically miss an ingredient in the recipe of life and our cookies burn. However, when we follow the instructions of the Master and do what He says, we can only expect a life of fulfillment and peace with others.

Remember, satisfaction comes only to those who choose the narrow pathway that leads to success. Today, let us strive for the application of the wisdom of God and watch how our lives are transformed and blessed.

Daily Confession

Father, I listen to Your Word and I do what You say. I live a life guided by wisdom; I won’t limp or stumble as I run. I carry out my instructions and guard them for they lead me to a fulfilled life.

Progress Is Guaranteed The Moment You Commit Your Life Into The Hands Of God

“He must increase, but I must decrease.”
John 3:30 (KJV)

AUGUST 6 - Like a careless match setting a house wildly aflame, ultimately rendering it into nothing but a useless pile of rubble, it is only a matter of time before we see those who have yet to commit their life to God cry out for help. Although they may have all the worldly possessions one could want, in reality, their life is little more than a brittle heap of scorched ash.

God always begins His strategic work on the inside before He ever manifests the final product on the outside. True progress is when one commits his or her life and plans to the Lord, allowing Him to exclusively lead. And as soon as you commit your work to the Lord, somehow through Him, your plans begin to favorably succeed.

Choose today to give God not part, but your entire life. He deserves it, doesn’t He? God desires to make you great; all He requests is your heartfelt compliance! John the Baptist said (and we must do the same), “I must decrease and He must increase.” That means the more we pursue God, the less we desire the pleasurable
things this world offers, thereby allowing the progression of His will to be accomplished.

Father, I choose to decrease so Jesus may increase in my life.

Success IS Dependent Upon the Unswerving Continual Pursuit Of Your Dreams

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)

JULY 6 - One common mistake many individuals make in their pursuit of success is to focus on the very thing they don’t desire. Many people want to live happy and fulfilled lives, but how many truly do? Most people want to succeed and impact the world, but few ever do. In order for you to succeed and accomplish the things God has for you to accomplish, you must point your life in the direction of your desired destination. It is not enough to say you want these things. Unless you become clear and adamant about what you want out of life, you’ll never attain it.

  • Where do you want your life to go?
  • Which direction are you pointing your life?
  • Are you moving toward or away from God?

Just as soon as King Herod died and God allowed Joseph and Mary to leave Egypt safely with Jesus, their lives were pointed back in the direction of Judea. They dare not remain on foreign soil one moment longer than necessary. Make the choice today to point your life in the direction you desire to go.

Remember, you cannot control the winds, but you can govern the sails. God gave us the power to choose the outcome of our lives. The question is: Will you point your life in the right direction? I believe you will!

Promotion Stems From Actions, While Frustration Comes As The Result Of Intentions

“But if you keep looking steadily into God’s perfect law—the law that sets you free—and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.”
James 1:25 (NLT)

JUNE 8 - The Jews intended to believe in the Messiah. They also intended to follow God with all their hearts, intending to learn the Scriptures and the prophecies therein. But obviously, many of them failed to do so
since they crucified the very same Messiah that was eagerly awaited for so many generations. Their intentions faltered—big time!

The blessing of God comes to the person who follows through with his intentions. While we may think our good intentions should bring us promotion, it’s only when there is real progress that we can expect promotion in life. Dormant intentions only serve as a source of frustration.

We must avoid the temptation to believe that we are being cheated or treated unfairly when we don’t receive promotion, even though we have such grandiose intentions. So, where do we begin?

  • First, let us admit that we have ample room to grow in this area.
  • Second, let us determine which of our good intentions deserve our concentrated attention.
  • Third, let us pull out all the stops and go after a solid performance, measuring our success by our actions, and no longer by our mere intentions.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I look steadily into Your perfect law, the law that sets me free. Help me to always be a doer of Your Word, and I know that I am blessed because of it.

The Word Of God Is The Greatest Map In Life’s Journey Of Success

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT)

MAY 31 - The moment our ears catch the initial strains of the alarm clock’s chatter and our eyes focus upon the glimmer of the sun’s first light, we choose what kind of attitude we will display. We may think others have the power to decide our attitude, but that is never the case. By continually grafting the Word of God into who we are, we skillfully learn how to handle exasperating situations that would have previously set us ablaze. Like scrutinizing our appearance in the bathroom mirror following a morning shower, we methodically begin to visualize ourselves becoming more patient, making wiser decisions, and most importantly, avoiding evil.

We must, therefore, rely on God’s Word to lead the way toward the success we desire. If God’s Word does not direct our steps, our destination will not be pleasant. I have come across many people who are unhappy with the way life has turned out for them. They desire a great future but refuse to follow the guidelines established in God’s eternal Word to make it happen.

When we take His Word and live in accordance to the instructions given to us, we have no choice but to see great things happen. The Word of God transforms us when we begin to get our daily dosage of God’s success plan. Remember, transformation is a process; we must be patient as we progress on our journey toward success.

Progress In Life Is Most Often Determined By How One Responds To Failure

“Peter said, ‘I swear by God, I don’t know the man.’ And immediately the rooster crowed.”
Matthew 26:74 (NLT)

“Then Peter stepped forward with the eleven other apostles and shouted to the crowd, ‘Listen carefully, all of you, fellow Jews and residents of Jerusalem! Make no mistake about this.’”
Acts 2:14 (NLT)

MAY 22 - One of the things I enjoy most about the Word of God is the fact that God customarily uses men and women exactly like you and me. In God’s Word are numerous accounts of great men and women who failed, made mistakes here and there, but tenaciously refused to quit and give up. Joseph, the husband of Jesus’ mother, Mary, almost failed, thinking of leaving Mary upon discovering that she was about to have a child. However, following a divine visitation, Joseph passionately pushed through his nagging doubts, refusing to yield to impending failure of what God desired for him to accomplish.

Proverbs tells us, “Though a righteous man falls seven times, he gets back up.” I have a question for you – how are you going to respond the next time you fail? The reason I ask is because you have a strategic choice in the matter, just as Joseph did. See, we make far too many hasty, unwise decisions during the ardent heat of the battle. Instead, we must make the uncompromising decision today how we are going to respond to life’s setbacks.

Our progress only continues if we steadily refuse to allow failure to hold us down. Remember, God does not call the perfect; He calls the willing and obedient.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I am not a failure and I refuse to allow life’s setbacks to hold me down. I do not quit! I diligently push through troubles of tomorrow. I am perfect in Christ.

Transformation Is The Result Of A Consistent Pursuit of Excellence

“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:13-14 (NKJV)

MAY 17 - They’re open, 24/7—all-night gas stations, round-the-clock supermarkets, year-round  pharmacies. As believers, doesn’t God also call us to faithfully press forward, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week? Many believers are content to stay as ordinary as battery-run wall clocks, only enjoying fleeting moments of greatness, without ever living a fantastic life.

The common visit excellence momentarily, although in their minds, they think they do great all the time. They always think about the nice things they did last week or last month. At the same time, they wonder why they annually wait in vain for someone to finally recognize their vast achievements. But what they don’t realize is that their pride and their refusal of correction make them utterly unapproachable.

This is a sad observation, but it still stands true—there is absolutely no advancement or promotion without embracing correction. Without embracing the correction and modification that Captain Wingate made in Moshe Dayan’s military life, certain battles might have never been won, and where would Israel be today?

Remember, none of us are perfect. Every one of us has imperfections we must face. However, as long as we continue to pursue excellence, we are headed in the direction that will consistently make us more like Jesus.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I always choose to bow my knee to Your Word. I am a self-corrector therefore I prove my character to be authentic.

There Is No Such Thing As A Shortcut To The Higher Levels Of Success In Life

“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
1 Corinthians 9:27 (KJV)

APRIL 23 - Moshe boldly attended lectures at the Hannah Meister School. What was so comical, courageous, and sacrificial about attending school you might ask? Well, the Hannah Meister School wasn’t just any old school. The Hannah Meister School was an agricultural training center in Dayan’s hometown—an all-girl training center for farming. Nonetheless, a dedicated cultivator of the land as well as a soldier, Dayan never chose the easy path.

There is a tendency in all of humanity to proceed down the painless path—–the one most often traveled. Let’s face it, we all want to eliminate pain from our lives, but in the attempt to take the easy road, we don’t possess the ability to maintain what we desire. It is like a high school student who does whatever he can to barely eek out a passing grade to get his diploma. He cheats, lies, and allows others to do his work. In his attempt to bypass the pain of studying and working hard to achieve a good grade, he foolishly overrides the preparation necessary for college.

Many believers live the same way. The Bible tells us God has great things in store for us, and that He has an exciting plan for our lives. But unless we embrace the season of preparation and pain, we are not ready to handle the heroic things God has for us to accomplish.

Never gaze dreamily upon the comforts of the easy road. And don’t look to override the crucial season of preparation. Enjoy the journey. Remember, life is not a race to be won, but an electrifying journey to be enjoyed!

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I discipline my body and I bring it into subjection lest after I minister to others, I myself become disqualified.
