The Obedient Are The Only Ones Invited To Attend The Banquet Of Reward

“Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between prosperity and disaster, between life and death.”
Deuteronomy 30:15-18 (NLT)

SEPTEMBER 9 - Choices: A movie or a move of God through sacrificial prayer? Support of a new missionary outreach or the purchase of another new outfit?

One of the greatest gifts anyone could ever receive is the power of choice. God gave us the ability to create our future. Whether it is prosperous or disastrous, the choice is ours. The apostle Paul encourages us with these words, “For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey Him and the power to do what pleases Him.” God doesn’t just leave us as orphans to fend for ourselves. He knows there is an enemy out there whose sole purpose is to lure us into making wrong choices. If Satan causes us to make just one mistake, it may result in a lifetime of negative consequences.

We can see throughout the Scriptures that God did not predestine our choices. He did, however, predestine our consequences. We are to surrender our lives to the Spirit of God and trust in Him to help us make right choices.

The Holy Spirit is our helper; He guides us in the right direction. As all of us know for certain—the rewards of obedience far outweigh the consequences of disobedience. In the above passage God lays it out, “Now listen! Today I give you a choice between prosperity and disaster, between life and death. Choose to love the Lord your God and to obey Him and commit yourself to Him, for He is your life.”

Father, I thank You for working in me, giving me the desire to obey You and the power to do what pleases You. I choose life and not death. I live a long, good life because I love You and obey Your commands.

Promotion Is The Avenue By Which Favor Expresses Itself

“Then pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘See, I have set you over all the land Egypt.’”
Genesis 41:41 (AMP)

JULY 10 - “Please, take this as a seed for your business,” the honey-haired woman wrote on the note to her brother, tucking the antique necklace securely inside the envelope, praying for favor, a harvest, and most of
all, her younger brother. Seven Years Later: “There’s more jewelry here than most antique stores have,” the woman told her daughters, opening box after box, all colors, shapes, sizes, and styles. “Where did all
this jewelry come from?” one of the woman’s daughters questioned, intrigued by the sheer massiveness of it all. “From your uncle, my brother,” the woman pondered, finally remembering that day long ago when love, and God, told her to send one necklace to her brother, to help him succeed.

Favor is an intriguing aspect of life. It is the desire within an individual to help another succeed. Over the years of ministry, I noticed that promotion and favor go hand in hand. Coming from one who has employees, I can say that although one may get the job done, it does not guarantee them a promotion.

The missing ingredient is favor from both man and God. In the Gospel of Luke, we learn that Jesus grew in favor with both God and man. You can actually increase favor on your life. You can grow the desire in another to help you succeed. How do we increase favor on our life? The favor of God rests upon your life if you look to please God through submitting and bringing pleasure to your boss, spouse, pastor, or any authority God places in your life.

Once the favor comes, promotion is soon to follow. May the world one day hear of the promotion God brings into your life.

Father, I thank You that I am obedient to my leaders and I submit to them, continually recognizing their authority over me.

Transformation Is The Reward A Man Receives For Embracing God’s Thoughts

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think…”
Romans 12:2a (NLT)

MAY 25 - Passing through the gate of Bethlehem’s marketplace as helmeted Roman soldiers stood guard, merchants vociferously hawked their goods—food, cloth, and provisions of all types. Four and a half miles
south of Jerusalem, the tiny hamlet set in the hills of Judea was about to be transformed, renewed in spirit and in mind through the personages of Joseph, his wife, and the holy Child she carried. The subject of mind renewal is one that should never fade away from our Christian foundations, since all of us desire to be successful in life. God put within us a longing for more, and an innate passion for growth. All of us have the distinct desire for improvement in our lives; we must understand that we do not attract what we want; we
attract who we are. God gave us an avenue through which we can become the person who attracts the very things we desire.

By using God’s Word to renew our minds, He gave us the ability to transform our lives. What a powerful thing! To realize and understand transformation causes one to exceed above the rest. “And why is that?” you might ask. It is because transformation belongs only to those who pursue it and work hard to achieve it. We are not transformed overnight; it is a process very few are patient enough to endure.

As we begin to saturate our mind and embrace the thoughts of God, transformation is the result. God tells us, “…be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” Transformation comes only by renewing our minds with God’s Word. May God help us to be diligent and press on until the outcome we desire is finally attained!

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I no longer live or think like the world. I am transformed because I diligently renew my mind to Your Word.

The Value You Place Upon Any Relationship Is Immediately Revealed By The Price You Are Willing To Pay For It

“Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”
Matthew 13:44 (NKJV)

APRIL 17 - I came to the realization that I greatly value my relationships because I am willing to give up my own pursuit of greatness in order to bring greatness to another. And, to this day, when I recognize that greatness is coming out of an individual, I tell him, “Your best years are ahead of you! And I’m here to multiply who you are and never bring you a day of grief.”

I also discovered that if I actually bring out the best in others, they no longer have to work, strive, and push so hard for themselves. They can begin to sow in confidence instead of guardedly protecting themselves, stringently holding on to what they have. Interestingly enough, now they look to see what they can do in my life. And because they now sow, they actually begin to truly reap. This is the greatest value that I could ever bring to a person’s life.

Taught to reverence parents, the aged, the handicapped, and strangers far above their own selves, each Jewish parent often reminded and taught his children that by giving value to others (no matter who they were) they would be blessed. Teaching these types of attitudes brought out the best in the children, and the entire community would ultimately reap—a small price to pay.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that the Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure in a field, which I find and hide and for my joy over it, I go and sell all I have and buy that field.

Sculpting Your True identity - CD

It took Michelangelo six years to carve one of his greatest works, the magnificent statue of King David. When asked why his masterpiece took so long, his reply was simple: “Once I found a slab of marble that I could see David in, all that was left was to chip away everything that was not David.”

You are God’s masterpiece. God placed something great within you that no man can take away, no circumstance can assail, and no words can destroy. The key to unveiling your true potential lies in learning how to chip away everything that is not a part of who God called you to be. Join Dr. Robb Thompson as he shows you how to become God’s masterpiece – whole, polished, and created anew in Christ Jesus!

Understanding Is The Reward Awaiting Those Who Meditate On God’s Word

“I have more understanding than all my teachers,
for Your testimonies are my meditation.”

Psalm 119:99 (NKJV)

APRIL 15 - Just as the correct numbers release the combination to the bank vault’s safe, understanding unlocks the very life of God. Understanding is the ability to see life as God sees it. Very few people ever draw close to walking in the fullness of what God has for them because they lack understanding. Without it, one cannot fully embrace the truth of God’s Word. We see throughout all of Scripture the worthy emphasis placed on meditation of the words of God.

During the era of great prophets such as Ezra and Nehemiah, Hebrew teachers were advised to not only teach their given subjects, but to closely ponder (or meditate upon) the temperaments of the various
students they instructed. These teachers were further exhorted to not just read words to their pupils, but to have an understanding, a thorough insight into the spirits and souls of what was happening inside each boy and girl. It is the same with many individuals who routinely read and study the Bible, yet they are not changed by the information they read.

Although the Bible contains the words of God, it only becomes real when we choose to meditate upon it. This does not refer to a type of eastern religious practice; this refers to one’s daily hearing, pondering, and confession of the Scripture. If we take just one Scripture, run it through our minds, and put it in our mouths, it will come alive inside, producing more change than reading the entire New Testament would. And just as the ancient Hebrew teachers were instructed to meditate upon their students for success in the classroom,
scripture meditation is vital to your success as a believer.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that as I meditate upon Your Word, understanding rises within me.

Action Is The Missing Link Between Zeal and Reward

“For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.”
Romans 10:2 (NKJV)

MARCH 4 - The unexpected richness of sweet figs, the soothing texture of apricot sourdough bread, the hearty flavor of stewed barley, and the delicate symbolism of roasted lamb joyously sing a harmony of delight for those who relish the Palestinian cuisine. Trapped in a complex web of unwholesome, prepared foods, more and more people around the world are gaining knowledge concerning the healthy benefits of a Biblical, Mediterranean diet. But how many people are alert enough to seek this information with great zeal? It is the same with Christians, many of whom never truly experience the rewards of Heaven because of their own lack of knowledge. If Satan keeps us out of the Word of God, he keeps us where we are—feeble, undernourished, and ignorant of our rights and rewards. We see a great example of this in the parable Jesus illustrates in Luke 15:31, “Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.” The son didn’t realize that he could partake of his father’s goods any time he wanted. God says the same to us today.

In the book of Hosea, we see that God’s people perish for lack of knowledge. And isn’t it the same in regard to proper food? Remember, Jesus came to give us abundant life. But we will never partake of that life until we know what it includes. We can go no further than the knowledge we possess. We must commit ourselves to careful study and examination of God’s Word to discover what is rightfully ours. Passion concerning good health requires great knowledge. Our zeal, combined with our knowledge of Him, propels us like a fighter jet, straight into our Heavenly inheritance.

Daily Confession

Father, I understand that zeal without knowledge is not good. Therefore I study Your Word, and search out the information I need to possess the reward You have for me.

Giving Up What You Want Is The Beginning Of Giving God What He Wants

“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the Gospel’s will save it.”

Mark 8:35 (NKJV)

FEBRUARY 25 - Here are two extraordinary questions for you to carefully consider:

  • Why do I want what I want?
  • How could I even suppose my own desires could compare with the desires God divinely prepared for me?

Now, here are some possibilities:

Pride—Individuals with a proud heart won’t admit they still cling to their own desires. They convince themselves that their own way of doing things is correct, superior, and even Godly.

Comfort—Whatever God leads us to will be great, but it will not be comfortable. People stop surrendering their will to God when the next step requires sacrificing more comfort than they are willing to accept.

Misunderstanding—It is impossible for people to surrender their desires when they don’t believe in God’s goodness. Those who view God as a traditional dictator (as opposed to a benevolent king) never understand that the scope of God’s plan is infinitely more wonderful than a personal dream.

God firmly prohibited the Jews from charging interest on loans of silver, chattel, or produce. Nonetheless, selfish moneychangers often consented to this desire for greed, in direct disregard of the law. Do you currently have a difficult time trying to let go of your own selfish desires? Have you dealt with pride, comfort, or misunderstanding in your life? Deal with it today. Make sure you ask God to search your heart and divest you of any desires that are contrary to Him.

Daily Confession

Father, I realize my life is worth nothing unless I use it to do the work assigned to me by You—the work of telling others the Good News about Your wonderful kindness and love.

Winning The Heart Of God - Book

What is the ultimate prize that this world has to offer? The Nobel Peace Prize? An Oscar? A Super Bowl ring? A lucrative recording contract?

Certainly you can find all types of contests in which to compete and a host of valuable prizes to covet in today’s society. But in this book, Dr. Robb Thompson tells you how to win the ultimate prize of life – the heart of your Heavenly Father.

Using illustrations from the lives of Biblical men and women, Dr. Thompson vividly portrays what it means to be a person after God’s own heart. In the process, he tackles the all-important topics of submission and covenant loyalty – scriptural concepts that are frequently shunned and swept under the collective rug in Christendom today.

As Dr. Thompson so succinctly asks, “What else do you have in life, if you don’t have the heart of the Father?” That’s a question only you can answer for yourself. Pursue the prize of your Father’s heart, and watch everything else in your life fall into place (Matthew 6:33).

Right Must Never Be Penalized And Wrong Must Never Be Rewarded

“Even while we were with you, we gave you this rule:
‘whoever does not work should not eat.’”

2 Thessalonians 3:10 (NLT)

FEBRUARY 16 - Some Americans may have forgotten, but the United States Constitution did not consign the nation to be ruled by judges. Established with the divinely inspired system of “checks and balances,” America’s unique government is separated into three branches—legislative, executive, and judicial—one continually serving the other. That is exactly how “liberty and justice for all” was created. Recently, however, it seems there has been a disproportionate shift in standards, accentuating an imperial judiciary instead of this branch being the least powerful of the three, consigning the nation to be ruled by judges.

Paralleling this unjust trend, the standards once held by the early Christian church have also declined. Additionally, a shift within the body of Christ from exclusivity to all-inclusive has begun to take place. We have communicated an errant message that everyone can be rewarded in Heaven without doing what is right. This plainly is not just. The shift is evident throughout the entire world, and has infiltrated the church, causing it to be filled with so-called “Christians” who don’t produce Godly fruit. Repeatedly, God’s Word
reveals that rewards are extended only to those who obey.

There must be a balance between seeking the lost and allowing people to determine their own course. Did Jesus ever chase after those who wanted to abandon Him? Absolutely not! Once people knew who He was, Jesus allowed them to decide who they would follow. He did not force Himself upon anyone. If He would have, there would be no reward because God only rewards those whose faith causes pursuit. We must commit to the Word of God and stand our ground to receive what is rightfully ours. Now that is truly “liberty and justice for all.”

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I am a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. I produce much fruit that brings You glory.
