An Abused Life Is A Life Without Purpose

“Store your treasures in heaven, where they will never become moth-eaten or rusty and where they will be safe from thieves. Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be.”
Matthew 6:20-21 (NLT)

NOVEMBER 22 - “Do you think anyone can actually use some of this junk?” Sifting through broken tools, worn filters, flattened tires, and empty cans of oil, their deceased grandfather’s garage was filled to the brim with stuff. “This is where he spent the majority of his time,” one of his grieving grandsons reminisced. Tossing the debris into a heavy-duty garbage bag, “It’s too bad he didn’t start a mentorship program or
something, you know, for guys in trouble. They sure could have profited from our grandpa’s experience, the best auto mechanic this town has ever seen. Now, I guess it’s just too late.”

And the person to whom Jesus refers in Matthew 6 is also one who lives without a purpose. People like these have lives filled with great temporary things, but they do nothing that brings them an eternal return. Since everything around us is going to disappear one day, how foolish it is to live just for the here-and-now. We could call that “life abuse.”

We have a choice to make every morning. Either we use the day to make something out of the life God so graciously gave us, or we squander our hours on fleeting pleasures and aimlessness. God’s grace is available to all who come to Him, unequivocally offering themselves as living sacrifices. That must be the first step. God has the final authority in our life, and we should do whatever we must to make sure our life is used to the fullest, both for our good and for the good of the people around us. Live your life on purpose!

Father, I thank You for giving me the gift of life. I thank You for giving me the grace I need to make each day worthwhile and full of purpose.

A Man’s Character Is The Prophecy Of His Destiny

“He who walks with integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will become known.”
Proverbs 10:9 (NKJV)

NOVEMBER 21 - If you want to know the outcome of your life, closely examine your character. You cannot separate yourself from your character. Character is who a person is. The good thing is, character can be  developed. You are not born a good person; in fact, you are programmed to fail the moment you are born. The Bible says we are all born slaves to sin. But God sent His Son to die and rise again so we can walk as He  walked. Jesus’ destiny was predicted long ago by His unwillingness to compromise. When tempted in the wilderness, He refused to negotiate His integrity for momentary pleasure. When tempted to forsake suffering and death on the cross, He walked in the veracity of His Father.

Your character is a prophecy of your destiny. It is up to you. You can, through God’s Word, cultivate the character of Christ. Heaven and Hell are destinies of a chosen path. Walk according to God’s Word, and Heaven is your final destination. Choose to live according to the desires of your flesh, and Hell awaits you. Today, cross-examine yourself with God’s Word. Ask God to help you live like Christ and pay whatever price you must to ensure you never lower your standard of living.

Father, I thank You that my character is a prophecy of my destiny, therefore I choose to live a life of integrity and honesty before You.

What You Experience Today Are Little More Than Thoughts Yesterday

“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.”
Proverbs 4:23 (NKJV)

NOVEMBER 19 - The range of voices and the gallery of thoughts that enter your mind are seeds. You have a choice over which seeds get planted, and which get rejected. Your heart becomes the fertile soil where those
seeds are planted. When planted, those seeds mature and produce fruit in your life.

There is no way to avoid this process of “heart germination,” for the Bible tells us in Proverbs 4:23 that this is how God designed the human heart to function. “Keep [manage, tend, protect, safeguard, watch over,
preserve, chaperon, care for, be a good steward over] your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” The only way to assure good outcomes in your life is to plant good seeds in your heart.
When I was going through a difficult time in my life, it was because early in my childhood, bad seeds were planted in my heart, grew up, and produced bad fruit. Destructive thought-seeds take root and begin
to grow because you choose to believe them. Erroneously, you begin to believe that what they say is the truth. You begin to believe evil about yourself. However, it is important to realize that any thought left
unchallenged is established as fact.

Why not deposit an abundant crop of good seeds into your heart today, so that you too create a bountiful future?

Father, I thank You that my heart is the soil where my thoughts become seeds that create my future.

A Man Who Ignors The Truth Is On The Pathway To Destruction

“My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge…”
Hosea 4:6 (NIV)

NOVEMBER 18 - Jesus proclaimed that His Word is truth and those who know the truth shall be set free. Regardless of what we plainly see, distinctively hear, or clearly perceive with our natural senses, God’s Word still holds true. It amazes me that God’s people perish from a lack of knowledge because of the simple fact that God gave us His Word so that ignorance would be eradicated in our lives.

The truth of God’s Word brings light to any dead and dark situation. As we begin to meditate upon the pages of God’s written Word, freedom begins to manifest itself in our lives.

• His Word brings understanding where there was no understanding.
• His Word brings hope where there was no hope.
• His Word brings freedom where once there was once only bondage.

God desires for all of His people to be free and live long, healthy, and abundant lives. But until we embrace the truth of God’s Word, it is impossible to walk in the freedom that God provided for us or to become victorious in that truth.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that You gave me Your written Word. I meditate upon Your Word and apply it to every situation bringing light into all areas of my life. I know the truth of Your Word and the truth makes me free.

Your Relationship Quotient

After observing interpersonal relationships for over three decades, Dr. Robb Thompson made a remarkable discovery that he wants to share with you: Contrary to popular belief, the outcome of your life is not determined by your intelligence (IQ), your physical appearance/abilities (PQ), or your ability to manage your emotions (EQ). Your life is determined by your ability to link yourself with those who carry your future within them – your Relationship Quotient.

Using compelling personal examples, Dr. Thompson illustrates how his own life changed for the better only when he changed his relationships. He presents profound principles that will alter the course of your future, if applied – principles such as:

• In life, you decide your relationships; then your relationships decide your destiny.
• If you want to accurately predict a man’s future, just take a look at his present friends.
• Relationships are magnetic – pulling you closer to or driving you further away from your divine destiny.

Proverbs 13:20 says, “Become wise by walking with the wise; hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces” (Message). Are you ready to change your future? It’s time to raise your Relationship Quotient!

While People Of The World Choose Conformation, Those Who Believe In God Choose Transformation

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

NOVEMBER 17 - Your mind can only hold one thought at a time. Therefore, the easiest way to get rid of negative thoughts is to replace them with positive thoughts. The most effective way to do this is with your spoken words. Your mind has to entertain what your mouth says.

The mind is never empty; it is always occupied with a thought. Spoken words override unspoken thoughts. By substituting your thoughts, you can replace troubling thoughts with a God-thought that has the power to transform your life.

You can’t be filled with nagging fear, relentless doubt, and abject worry when you constantly meditate upon God’s Word. As long as you don’t allow negative thoughts to be planted into your mind, growing like weeds in your flower garden, you discover peace, joy, and happiness. But the transformation of your life is linked to your commitment to change the way you think.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I am not conformed to this world but I am transformed by the renewing of my mind. My mind is renewed by Your Word.

Freedom Is Yours The Moment You Trust Heaven’s Opinion

“I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to Your commandments.”
Psalm 119:45 (NLT)

NOVEMBER 16 - “As the scriptures hath said.” It was a customary phrase for Jesus—quoting the scriptures, bringing knowledge and freedom to the children of Israel. So always remember, there is no freedom outside of the Word of God. The Scripture tells us we are all born slaves to sin.

Through our acceptance of what Jesus Christ did on the cross, we are set free from the bondage of sin. Even though we have been set free, we still wonder how to walk in that freedom. It is one thing to be free, but walking in the fullness of that freedom is something completely different. I am convinced that the most miserable man in the universe is the one who has been set free, yet has no idea how to walk it out.

God gave us the knowledge we need in order to walk in the fullness of our redemption. We know David discovered it because of the words he penned, “I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to Your
Word.” So many see that as information they already know, but to David, it was revelation that utterly transformed his life. David’s decision to devote himself to the Word of God enabled him to walk in the liberty that was rightfully his…and the same holds true for us. It is of necessity that we commit ourselves to meditate on the Word of God every day. In whatever area you may struggle, the freedom you desire lies within the pages of God’s holy Word.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that my freedom lies within the pages of Your Word. I embrace what You say and exchange what I think for what You think. I am free and I reign over the sin that had me bound.

Promotion Belongs To The Boss’s Pet — Ask Any Mediocre Employee

“Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.”
Proverbs 22:29 (NKJV)

OCTOBER 29 - As Jesus instructed His disciples to preach to the people of Israel, He realized that many would not listen to the disciples’ words—they would, conversely, persecute, harass, and hate the very ones who
brought the truth of God’s Kingdom. Deceived by the enemy, Jesus reminded the disciples to simply “shake off the dust” from those cities that would not receive them. Yet, those cities did not realize that their chance for promotion exited along with the disciples.

If we hear the principles of the Word, but do not apply them to our daily life, we deceive ourselves. We may dream of being promoted, in either our career or spiritual life, but we never see any type of promotion
arrive until we apply God’s principles to our life. We must go from conversation to demonstration in every aspect of our living. We must understand that promotion is a reward, not a right. God guarantees promotion to the person who is willing to apply the principles they learn from His Word. God’s principles, when put into

effect, work for you.

The moment you begin to embrace God’s principles is the moment you are on your way to receiving the promotion you rightly deserve.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You for the principles You established in Your Word. I commit to walk in excellence knowing that promotion soon follows. I do not only hear the Word, but I do it.

The Pursuit Of Excellence Awakens The Process Of Transformation

“Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.”
Proverbs 22:29 (NKJV)

AUGUST 23 - Stand before kings? Hard to believe, you might say, but it has happened in my life. I have had the privilege of standing before many great men and women, including kings, queens, and presidents of different nations. The verse above says, “Do you see a man who excels? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.” Your pursuit of excellence awakens the remarkable process of transformation. You may say, “Dr. Thompson, not me. You don’t know me, I am just an ordinary Joe.”

Please listen carefully: If God can take a man who did drugs, became an alcoholic by the age of fourteen, embezzled stereo equipment, and was institutionalized at a mental hospital, and cause him to stand before some of the greatest men and women on the face of the earth, then He can certainly do it for you.

But with every great achievement there comes a great price to be paid. As you pursue excellence, which is the continual pursuit of improvement, God takes you—an ordinary person—and does extraordinary things through your life. Now, the question is, do you believe it?

Father, I thank You that I excel in my work and I will stand before kings and not unknown men.

The Greatest Responsibility Placed Upon Any Man Is Adherance To The Word Of God

“Here is my final conclusion: fear God and obey His commands, for this is the duty of every person.”
Ecclesiastes 12:13 (NLT)

AUGUST 22 - In a southern California city is a glamorous movie theatre whose towering spotlight flickers and floats across the desert sky, drawing people to their nightly showings. That spotlight is proof something is going on. Our unwavering obedience and positive attitude draw Heaven’s spotlight—proof that something exciting is going on—not in some old movie theatre, but inside the hearts of His people! The Bible never says, “If you love Me, you will eat the best of the land.” It says, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the best of the land.” Our obedience is the only proof that we trust God. The success of our life by Heaven’s standard depends on our obedience to the written Word of God. The more accurately we obey, the greater the rewards.
Picture this: a mother asks her son to take care of the dishes while she is out. She comes home to find a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a sweet “I Love You” card, and a sink full of dirty dishes. Is she to believe her son loves her because of the flowers and card? Perhaps, if he did the dishes, but his disobedience to her specific instruction speaks louder than the sacrifice he went through to buy the flowers and the card. Obedience is better than sacrifice.

Solomon had everything, yet in Ecclesiastes 12:13 he came to one conclusion: fear God and obey His commands. Obedience to the Word of God is the one responsibility for which every man has to give an account on the Day of Judgment. God places such a high emphasis on obedience because our actions prove exactly who we are.

Father, I thank You that I fear You and keep Your Word. I prove my trust in You and my love for You by doing what You ask of me.

In The Game Of Life, Principle, Not Emotion, Will Decide Your Fate

“He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, ‘My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.’”
Matthew 26:39 (NKJV)

AUGUST 21 - Just how important are the decisions we make? They are the determining factors of the success or failure of our future. The choices we make today determine who we become tomorrow. We make thousands of decisions every day, many of which we don’t even think about. Other decisions can alter our life for better or for worse. To create the future God desires in our lives, we must select our decisions by
principle, and not by emotion. Without Godly principles, we are like a ship with no one to man the sails. The wind fatefully decides the ship’s course.

Without principles, the circumstances of life have complete control over our direction. For example, many people do not tithe because they are in debt and cannot afford to give God ten percent. They claim that when things get better, they will tithe. God assures us things will not get better for them until they tithe. Another example is a teenager who promises to stop partying when he gets out of high school. Unfortunately, things only worsen for that young person in the meantime, making it almost impossible to escape the party scene later in life.

We must never make decisions based upon present circumstances, but rather on the ultimate outcome we desire. Whatever we find in the Word of God, we must embrace as truth and apply our lives to it.

Father, I thank You that I live by Your principles and every Word that proceeds out of Your mouth. I am a doer of the Word and not a hearer only.
