Every Man Wants More Faith; But Few People Want More Of The Word Of God

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”
Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

DECEMBER 25 - As believers in Jesus Christ, we are called to walk by faith and not by sight. Our obedience brings Heaven no pleasure until it is first mixed with faith. Faith is not a magical powder Heaven showers upon those who ask for it. Faith is not something for which one can pray, nor does it come because we go through a negative experience. We only find two ways in all of Scripture that indicate how we can increase our faith:

• Hearing the Word of God.
• The confession of our mouths.

Before we can understand why that is, we must understand that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. God’s Word is full of truths that many of us have yet to experience in our lives. The more we meditate upon the truths of God’s Word and confess them throughout our day, the more faith begins to rise up within our hearts. We then possess the necessary power to overcome the assorted array of giants in our life. Once faith is released through our mouth and ignited by our actions, we soon see the manifestation of God’s promises in our lives.

Father, I thank You that I walk by faith and not by sight. I continually incline my ear to hear Your Word and I meditate upon it day and night. I know that Your promises are manifested in my life.

The Presence Of Fear Is Proof That One Is Focusing On The Lies Of The Devil Rather Than The Promises Of God

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
Psalm 23:4 (NKJV)

DECEMBER 24 -

• What have you been focusing on lately?
• Is it God’s Word, or is it the problems you face?

Accurate focus is the most vital ingredient to the success of any believer. If we learn how to focus on what God said concerning all facets of our situation, everything falls right into place. But if we fail to focus on His Word, we see our situation turn out to be insurmountable for us to overcome. We must understand—whatever we focus upon enlarges, expanding as large as the Red Sea. But this doesn’t happen in the physical realm as much as it occurs in the strategicbattlefield of our minds.

The more we focus on what God said, the smaller our problems seem. Remember, every person believes they are the one with the biggest problem. An adult may be consumed with forty-five thousand dollars of credit card debt, while a seven-year-old boy may owe the classroom bully forty-five cents. Both problems are great to each individual because the magnitude of any problem lies within the mind. If we want to see fear depart from our lives, we must simply begin to focus on what is written. What God said is the truth not a truth. As we embrace the truths of Heaven, the infection of fear is soon cured.

Father, I thank You that You did not give me a spirit of fear but of love and of a sound mind. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for You are with me, Your rod and Your staff are a comfort to me.

Freedom Is Yours The Moment You Trust In Heaven’s Opinion

“I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to Your commandments.”
Psalm 119:45 (NLT)

DECEMBER 23 - No more hangovers; no more obnoxious blackouts; no more embarrassing D.U.I. convictions. Although a believer, the thirty-year-old accountant hadn’t been able to break the bondage of alcohol that had virtually devastated his life, leaving him near death about a year earlier. But now that he was genuinely liberated, he was determined to walk in that freedom, becoming accountable to the small group of recovering alcoholics with whom he had voluntarily joined. The group, devoted to the teachings and commandments of the Word of God, brought him to trust completely in heaven’s opinion instead of his own.

There is absolutely no freedom outside of the Word of God. The scripture tells us we are all born slaves to sin. Through our acceptance of what Jesus Christ did on the cross, we are set free from the bondage of sin.
Even though we have been set free, we still wonder how to walk in that freedom. It is one thing to be free, but walking in the fullness of that freedom, like the recovering alcoholic believer, is something completely different.

I am convinced that the most miserable man in the universe is the one who has been set free, yet has no idea how to walk it out. Yet, God gave us the knowledge we need to walk in the fullness of our redemption. We know David discovered it because of the words he penned, “I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to Your Word.” So many see that as information they already know, but to David, it was revelation that  transformed his life. David’s decision to devote himself to the Word of God enabled him to walk in the liberty that was rightfully his. It is of necessity that we commit ourselves to meditate on the Word of God every day.

Father, I thank You that my freedom lies within the pages of Your Word. I embrace what You say and exchange what I think for what You think.

Progress Is Guaranteed To Those Who Pursue Improvement

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)

DECEMBER 12 - To evolve means to gradually acquire new traits or characteristics. In order to improve in any endeavor, we must be willing to acquire new traits and skills. These new acquisitions cause us to excel above the rest. Always remember: The excellent get ahead during the times the mediocre waste.

We must spend any spare moment to improve our relationship with God, marriage, friendships, or our personal character. Our time is precious, and time is the price we must pay in order to see our lives continually improve.

• Why are people unwilling to evolve?
• Why don’t people want to change?

There are two reasons that I have discovered over the course of many years of ministry. The first reason is that people have a fear of failure. Ask the person who tried to overcome a negative habit in the last few years why they gave up. It is because they continually failed and don’t want to go through the pain of acknowledging their unwillingness to overcome that way of life. The second reason people don’t want to change is because they don’t know how. The desire is there, but the teacher to instruct them is not. I am focused on one thing…change. When people come around me, they have the desire to change things in their lives. Why is that? Because that is how it is with God. The moment we got saved, He has been changing us and He has not stopped since.

Father, I thank You that I am a new creature. Old things are passed away; behold, everything has become new. I am righteous because I am in Christ and Christ is in me.

Excellence Descends Into Mediocrity The Moment It Is Unwilling To Change

“For if anyone is a hearer of the Word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.”
James 1:21–24 (NKJV)

DECEMBER 11 - A sharp flurry danced in the air—transformation occurred everywhere. People who were blind since birth could suddenly see, the deaf had the joy of listening to parables of the Master, the disturbed were vibrantly whole, and thieves became as honourable as the temple rabbi. Yes, there were some who were unwilling to change. Many thought the Teacher, the Messiah, was merely another man, but because they were unwilling to embrace change, the miraculous for them was as distant as the Mediterranean Sea.

Ultimately, excellence can be devoured through our unwillingness to change. Life passes us by and causes us to live in regret over the lack of productivity from our past. The moment we become unwilling to embrace change is the moment we no longer achieve or reach the high standards to which Christ calls us.

Inherently, humanity has within itself the desire to settle, to hit a plateau and go no further. However, as men and women of excellence, we must refuse the cosy invitation to settle. We must be resilient and continue to climb the ladder of excellence. It is a daily pursuit requiring focus and persistence. When we are dedicated to this call, we walk victoriously over the enemy of mediocrity. Mediocrity can be beaten… we can overcome! We must, nevertheless, pursue excellence every day of our lives. The only question is this: Will we or won’t we pursue?

Father, I thank You that I am a doer of Your Word. I look into the perfect law of liberty and continue in it. I am not a forgetful hearer but I am an effectual doer and I am blessed in all I do.

The Greatest Seed Of Man Is The Seed Of Obedience To God

“But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience).”
James 1:25 (AMP)

NOVEMBER 28 - Realizing that He was the standard, not only for Israel but for the world, Jesus knew that without daily obedience (even in the little things), there is no life of reward. God searches the earth, looking for someone He can shower His blessings upon. God is a good God and desires to bless His children. We must understand, however, that God does not reward disobedience. We can see throughout all of Scripture how God resists those who choose the route of disobedience and rebellion.

The greatest pleasure Heaven ever receives is to be believed. There is no greater proof that we believe the Word of God than obedience to it. If we want to please God and receive the rewards He has for us, we must choose to obey.

The greatest seed one can ever sow is the seed of obedience…it harvests an abundant crop of reward. James exhorts us with these words, “…being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience). The life we desire lies within the seed of our obedience.

Father, I thank You that I refuse to bow my knew to the desires of my flesh. Instead, I surrender my life to Your Spirit, disciplining my body and causing it to come into line with Your Word.

The Proof You Have Mastered Your Flesh Is In Your Ability To Say “No” To Negative Passions

“Until the time came to fulfill his word, the Lord tested Joseph’s character.”
Psalm 105:19 (NLT)

NOVEMBER 27 - Just two or three presses of the buttons and poof! He could be on the website in no time, and who would ever be the wiser? But the young husband and father of two, through intense prayer and reading
of the Bible, consistent help from his church and a local Christian outreach program, had the ability to say “no” because he surrendered to God and mastered his flesh. There is no greater way to prove a man’s character than to observe his daily actions. Our actions reveal who we truly are.

As we go through life, we encounter many people who appear to be one way, but when they are alone, they are a completely different person.
We must understand true character is who we are when no one is looking.

Never forget…God sees all. He sees us when we go home, He sees us when we travel in the car, and He sees us when we are all alone. He looks upon every one of our actions. We cannot fool God! Although our outer, improved character may fool others, God knows the things we hide on the inside.  Satan attempts to lure the desires of our flesh and bring them out into the open. He is on a constant pursuit to bait our flesh in the direction of sin.

As we choose to surrender our lives to the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to deny what our flesh demands of us. We then have the ability to live a life that is pleasing to God.

Father, I thank You that I refuse to bow my knew to the desires of my flesh. Instead, I surrender my life to Your Spirit, disciplining my body and causing it to come into line with Your Word.

Whatever Controls Your Mind Controls Your Life

“For as a man thinketh in his heart, so he is…”
Proverbs 23:7a (KJV)

NOVEMBER 26 - Whatever controls your mind controls your life. The tarting point of the journey to regain control of your mind begins with one basic truth—Nothing, can take the place of your commitment to continually feed on God’s Word.

What I share here is not a theoretical understanding of renewing the mind. I have applied these principles in my own life. If they worked for me, they can certainly work for you! God already gave you everything you could ever need to achieve victory in your mind. Yet, here are two crucial questions:

  • How are you going to bring that victory into a real experience?
  • How do you accomplish mind renovation where and when it really counts?

This is a subject that is very real to me. I came to Christ in 1975 while being treated in a mental institution. Psychologists told me there was nothing that they could do to help me. They assisted and guided me through the toughest part of what they called a “deep character disorder” and then informed me I would be that way for the rest of my life.

But the power of God’s Word delivered me! One hundred percent of the deliverance I enjoy is through the application of the principles outlined in God’s Word. And I believe the same can be true for you!

Father, I thank You that whatever controls my mind controls my life, therefore, I consistently feed upon Your Word. The consistent intake of Bible doctrine is the most important thing in my life as a believer.

God’s Word Is The Place Where Faith Is Produced

“The thorny ground represents those who hear and accept the good news, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares of this life and the lure of wealth, so no crop is produced.”
Matthew 13:22 (NLT)

NOVEMBER 25 - The Bible tells us that worry chokes the Word of God and makes it of no effect. Can you imagine that worry can actually stop the powerful Word of God from working in your life? We must understand, however, that worry is not something to be played with or to be taken lightly. Jesus exhorted us to look at the delicate lilies of the field; exotically beautiful, they grow but never work to adorn themselves. Do they worry? Never; these gorgeous flowers are dressed to the hilt, yet never, ever worry.

Worry is the proof that faith is absent! You cannot worry and walk in faith simultaneously. The moment faith enters is the moment worry must exit. It is interesting to note that when we worry, we document that we don’t believe what God said. Remember, God’s greatest pleasure is to be believed and His greatest disappointment is to be doubted. What does our worry say about our faith in God?

Although we may get excited about the principles taught to us on Sunday, it takes refusing worry on Monday to see God’s Word manifest in our lives. Never forget, when worry knocks at your door, let the Word of God answer! Worry will flee in terror!

Father, I walk by faith and not by sight. I refuse to look at my circumstances knowing that whatever I focus on multiplies. I stand on Your Word and refuse to allow worry to enter my home.

The Word Of God Is The Greatest Map In Your Daily Journey Of Success

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives… It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT)

NOVEMBER 23 - Groping to the window to open the blinds, the young executive glared at the barren tree. Oh how I despise these cold dark months, trees without leaves, the smell of death everywhere. On the opposite side of the vastly wide yard, a middle-aged accountant peered at the same tree. He had never noticed it before, but the tree was formulated into the letter “V”, two sturdy trunks reaching high into the air. Ah, yes. “V” is for victory. That’s what is coming at me today. The same tree—but two dramatically disparate attitudes! Each day we wake up and explicitly choose with what kind of attitude we are going to.

We may erroneously think that others have the power to decide our attitude, but when it comes down to it, we make the decision of how we respond. By continually grafting the Word of God into who we are, we see instant results in all areas of life.

We must rely on God’s Word to lead the way toward the success we desire. If God’s Word does not direct our steps, our destination is not pleasant. I have come across many people who are unhappy with the way life seems to presently be for them. They desire a great future but refuse to follow the guidelines established in God’s eternal Word to make it happen.

We must take His Word and lay it down before our lives and live in accordance to the instructions given to us if we ever desire to see great things happen. The Word of God transforms us when we begin to get our daily dosage of God’s success plan.

Father, I thank You that Your Word fully equips me for every good work You have for me to do.
