Too Much Talk And Noth Enough Action Is As Worthless As A Perfume That Has No Fragrance

“Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty!”
Proverbs 14:23 (NLT)

JUNE 25 - Talk is as cheap as second-hand goods! Nevertheless, we must become men and women who no longer simply talk about what we are going to do. Instead, we must carry it out. For far too long, we have talked about what we are going to accomplish; now it is time to back up our words with corresponding actions. God proves everything He says with action—He always fulfills what He promised. We must do the same.

We see in the above Scripture that work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty. That principle holds true for all areas of life. Getting fit, building Godly habits, and investing resources—these are things we can begin immediately. We must go beyond knowing that we should do something and actually do it. People are often content to simply know something — they then feel they don’t have to do it.

The apostle James tells us, “But be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only.” Hearing the Word does nothing for us when action is absent. We must put action to our words; this leads us to the promotion God desires for us.
