All Men Want To Excel But Few Want To Pay The Price

“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run,
but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.”

1 Corinthians 9:24 (NKJV)

MARCH 29 - Often working in conjunction with the Hebrew farmer was the shepherd. Few Bible students realize, however, the tremendous sacrifice true shepherds faced. Often exposed to frigid, inclement weather, he dressed in rough animal skins, carrying a thick club for protection against thieves and wild animals. When the flocks remained outdoors at night, the shepherd slept attentively beside his flock, waking several times to ensure their safety. Sacrifice—this principle stands true in any area of life—diets, stronger relationship with God, finances, intimacy between spouses, etc. I have discovered that life doesn’t usually give us what
we want. Life usually gives to us what we deserve. Or perhaps I can state it this way: life gives us what we work for, not what we think we should have. The Bible says, “Go to the ant you sluggard! Consider her
way and be wise, which, having no captain, overseer or ruler, provides her supplies in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.”

Excellence doesn’t just happen by chance. You have to passionately and diligently pursue it. Excellence comes with a price tag, but I guarantee it is cheaper than compromise. Compromise costs your life, whereas
excellence asks from you to give 100% every day. Make every day count. Live as though today was your last day on earth. Learn sacrifice, and obtain the prize by:

  • Paying any price to change.
  • Paying the price to have a deeper relationship with God.

You’ll never be the same once you make the dedicated decision to pursue excellence in every area of your life.

Your Value As A Person Does Not Come From Your Race, Color, Or Creed But By The Types Of Problems You Solve For Others

“In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and He lives in all of us.”
Colossians 3:11 (NLT)

MARCH 27 - “Red and yellow, black and white…” brown, green, purple, or plaid, it doesn’t matter! All that matters in the world in which we live is the problems you choose to solve for others. Now, I understand that
certain socio-economic backgrounds or cultural characteristics may present you with more obstacles than another person, but you both have the same bulldozer with which to knock down those obstacles— problem solving is the key!

Israel’s farmers are blessed with two major seasons: the rainy season from October to April, and the dry season from approximately mid- May to mid-October. No matter what occurs with the weather, these
skillful planters are well prepared with irrigation systems arranged to water the fields. They have a huge problem to solve—feeding the people of their nation.

Unfortunately, many people nurse their own wounds, claiming that because of this or that, life isn’t fair to them. That’s certainly not true, and it rarely does any good. Instead, stand up tall, declare who you are
in Christ, and set out to be the answer to the problems in the world today. Life is no respecter of persons. God does not deny a person whose heart is set on solving problems. He is always faithful to you when you choose to be a problem solver.

Your Value To Others Is In Direct Proportion To The Problems You Are Willing To Solve For Them

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all,
especially to those who are of the household of faith.”

Galatians 6:10 (NKJV)

JANUARY 21 - Do you realize that by 1995 the most dynamic and rapidly growing economies in the world were right there on the Asian Continent, particularly the nations along the Pacific Rim? By practicing free enterprise, capitalism, and encouraging small businesses, backed by their legendary lifestyle of discipline, nations like Taiwan, South Korea, and Singapore grew to solve problems for people all over the world.

This principle can become easily misinterpreted if you don’t understand it—I don’t choose to become what other people need because I’m afraid of what may happen if I don’t. In other words, I do not passively allow myself to be molded by another person. I become what is necessary to others, because I realize that doing so gives me a real reason to be in relationship with a person. I am in relationship to add value, not just to hang around. Similar to the way in which the Asian nations have filled in the gap, I add value the moment I begin to solve problems for other people. I am the one they seek, because I possess concrete answers and specific solutions to their problems.

Many people grow very frustrated in life because they don’t see a purpose in what they do. They feel valueless and unappreciated. Do you know the cure for this? Become what another needs. Answer questions that no one else can answer. Keep promises that others break. Be willing to go where no one else will go. Be willing to do what no one else will do, and do it well. Take a moment and think about the relationships you are currently in — How do you add value to their life? What problems do you solve? What answers do you bring?

but especially to those who are of the household of faith.
