Life Is Not A Contest To Be Won, But A Journey To Be Enjoyed

“So I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that this pleasure is from the hand of God.”
Ecclesiastes 2:24 (NLT)

MAY 18 - How many people do you know that zealously work for retirement but never take the time to enjoy themselves along the way? Finally, that fateful day arrives when they retire, but sixty days later, they curiously die from the stress of overworking all their lives. Enjoy every moment of every day, no matter what season of life you’re in right now. If you can’t afford the luxuries of culture, be content knowing this is the worst off you will ever be. Focus on what you do have, and thank God for all His wonderful blessings.

Also, be careful not to always look so far into the future that you view your present disdainfully. Don’t hate where you are right now just because you would rather be somewhere else. The mind always searches for what it does not possess. The child who has all the latest toys still wants the one another child has! The young valet parking attendant dreams about one day having the car of the wealthy business owner who frequents the restaurant. But that same business owner yearns to make more money this year than he did last year. There is an endless search for achievement, but true fulfillment is only attained through visualizing life as a journey that is to be enjoyed, rather than an arduous race to be won.

Following his victorious campaign in which the Old City of Jerusalem was returned to the nation of Israel, Moshe Dayan became Israel’s Prime Minister, having enjoyed each one of his distinct leadership roles, no matter where those roles took him. In life, enjoy where you are at the present moment, but don’t set up camp there.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I enjoy the fruit of my labor and I live for You and experience the fullness of the abundant life You give me.

Potential Is Quickly Achieved By The Willingness To Change

“Jesus said to him, ‘If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in Heaven; and come, follow Me.’ But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.”
Matthew 19:21-22 (NKJV)

MAY 5 - Having helped his people win their War of Independence, Moshe Dayan would now begin a new phase in his life. Retaining command of Israel’s southern sector, in 1950 he was promoted to rank of Brigadier General, transferred additionally to command of the northern sector. Dayan was ready and willing to change into whatever personage his embattled nation needed. He could not refuse God. He dare not refuse his people.

Whenever we refuse to embrace change in any area of our lives, we hinder God from helping us grow. It is impossible to grow, however, when we refuse change. God calls us to purposefully walk and live as Christ did while here upon the earth. All of us have a distance to go, but the good news is that we have the ability to improve because of our relationship with Christ. If we willingly allow Christ to invade our lives, and if we follow His Lordship, as soldiers follow their general, we will mature in Him.

Our willingness to embrace change authorizes Heaven to promote us to a higher level (just as Brigadier General Dayan was continually promoted), giving us a superior future. As we seek to improve ourselves, we will soon achieve our God-given potential. We cannot afford to allow our pride to prevent us from embracing the changes that are necessary for continual growth. In order to exceed our present status, we must be willing to pay the price of change.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I am Your child and I walk as Christ walked. I speak as Christ spoke and I live as Christ lived.

Your Rights As A Believer - CD

Immediately the prison door was flung open and you were free to live as a child of the King, with all its inherent authority, rights, and benefits. Did you walk out of that cage? Or do you remain imprisoned – subject to the shackles of depressing circumstances, stressful relationships, poor health, and unending lack?

Your Value As A Person Does Not Come From Your Race, Color, Or Creed But By The Types Of Problems You Solve For Others

“In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and He lives in all of us.”
Colossians 3:11 (NLT)

MARCH 27 - “Red and yellow, black and white…” brown, green, purple, or plaid, it doesn’t matter! All that matters in the world in which we live is the problems you choose to solve for others. Now, I understand that
certain socio-economic backgrounds or cultural characteristics may present you with more obstacles than another person, but you both have the same bulldozer with which to knock down those obstacles— problem solving is the key!

Israel’s farmers are blessed with two major seasons: the rainy season from October to April, and the dry season from approximately mid- May to mid-October. No matter what occurs with the weather, these
skillful planters are well prepared with irrigation systems arranged to water the fields. They have a huge problem to solve—feeding the people of their nation.

Unfortunately, many people nurse their own wounds, claiming that because of this or that, life isn’t fair to them. That’s certainly not true, and it rarely does any good. Instead, stand up tall, declare who you are
in Christ, and set out to be the answer to the problems in the world today. Life is no respecter of persons. God does not deny a person whose heart is set on solving problems. He is always faithful to you when you choose to be a problem solver.

Father, I thank You that I am in Christ and all that matters is that Christ is in me.

God’s Protection Is Activated The Moment You Walk In Integrity

“He grants a treasure of good sense to the Godly.
He is their shield, protecting those who walk with integrity.”

Proverbs 2:7 (NLT)

MARCH 23 - No matter what problem or challenge we may face in our lives, we must, at all costs, conduct ourselves as people of integrity. Our integrity unmistakably defines who we are. We must fervently keep our word and conduct ourselves with a resolute adherence to God’s standards in order to represent Christ  effectively. By doing so, we are kept securely beneath the covenant promise of God’s protection. He is unable to protect us when we step out of the perimeter of His principles, which are clearly defined in Scripture.

Solomon speaks of this when he declares, “He is their shield, protecting those who walk in integrity.” We are to be absolutely committed to keep, not only the Word of God, but our word as well.

We can never afford to allow our integrity to be questioned. We must live above the expectations and standards set by others, over performing in all of our assignments. Remember, Satan comes to steal,
kill, and destroy; he prowls around like a lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Only our integrity delivers us from the brutal attacks of the enemy. But we must choose integrity, knowing that our future success depends upon it.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You for granting a treasure of good sense to me because I walk in Your ways. You are my shield protecting me in all of my dealings, for I walk with integrity.

Integrity Is The Foundation Upon Which Your Life’s Work Is Built

“He who walks with integrity walks securely,
but he who perverts his ways will become known.”

Proverbs 10:9 (NKJV)

MARCH 21 - A number of years ago, my father, Peter Daniels, and I traveled to California to meet with Dr. Robert Schuller. Dr. Schuller proceeded to tell us how the “Golden State” was experiencing an influx of new
homebuyers. He also mentioned that when most of the people buy homes, they place great emphasis on the state’s beautiful scenery and gorgeous weather, forgetting to think about the ground upon which the house rests. (If you are not aware, most of California sits on the dreaded San Andreas Fault.)

These people failed to realize how important the foundation is to the very future of the home they so greatly desired. In the same way, character is the only sure foundation to any successful business, healthy marriage, or fulfilling life.

It is your daily decisions, constructive thoughts, and encouraging associations that firmly shape your character. Neglect a stable foundation, and whatever you build in life will soon come tumbling down as if destroyed by an earthquake. Don’t set yourself up for disappointment. Why not stand upon God’s Word in all that you do?

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I walk in integrity therefore I walk securely. I refuse to pervert my way, for he who perverts his way becomes known.
