Progress Is Guaranteed The Moment You Commit Your Life Into The Hands Of God

“He must increase, but I must decrease.”
John 3:30 (KJV)

AUGUST 6 - Like a careless match setting a house wildly aflame, ultimately rendering it into nothing but a useless pile of rubble, it is only a matter of time before we see those who have yet to commit their life to God cry out for help. Although they may have all the worldly possessions one could want, in reality, their life is little more than a brittle heap of scorched ash.

God always begins His strategic work on the inside before He ever manifests the final product on the outside. True progress is when one commits his or her life and plans to the Lord, allowing Him to exclusively lead. And as soon as you commit your work to the Lord, somehow through Him, your plans begin to favorably succeed.

Choose today to give God not part, but your entire life. He deserves it, doesn’t He? God desires to make you great; all He requests is your heartfelt compliance! John the Baptist said (and we must do the same), “I must decrease and He must increase.” That means the more we pursue God, the less we desire the pleasurable
things this world offers, thereby allowing the progression of His will to be accomplished.

Father, I choose to decrease so Jesus may increase in my life.

The Bridge To God’s Will Can Never Be Crossed Until The Bridge From Your Will Is Finally Burned

“Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.”
Matthew 26:42 (NKJV)

JULY 28 - His unmistakable scent; his legendary stride; his fury, his anointing — when Elijah appeared at Elisha’s field, no one could mistake what had happened. The coat of the fiery prophet Elijah was symbolically presented to Elisha, signaling to everyone that Elisha was to follow the prophet of God. At the time, Elisha’s livelihood was his team of oxen and his plow. When the man of God arrived, however, Elisha burned his plow until it became ash and roasted his oxen for a commemorative meal. There could be no retreat, just as there would be no retreat for Jesus when it came time for the Father’s will to be done on the cross. Jesus, as well as Elisha, walked confidently into the will of God. The will of God is not as mysterious as it may seem.

First Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us exactly what God’s will is for our lives: “Always be joyful. Keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” God’s will is contained in those explicit instructions: Don’t be like the world… Embrace God’s way of thinking… Always be joyful… Keep on praying… And always be thankful.

We fulfill God’s will when we follow these commands. To live in such a way means we must be thoroughly finished with our own way of living. We must burn the bridges to our own righteousness, troubles, and time constraints. The bridge of God’s Word that lies in front of us transports us to God’s will. The secret, nonetheless, is to remain firmly on the bridge.

Father, I thank You that I am not conformed to this world, but I am transformed by the renewing of my mind, and I prove what is Your good, pleasing, and perfect will.

If Any Relationship Does Not Give Birth To Change, Then Any Further Association Is Unnecessary

“As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”
Proverbs 27:17 (NKJV)

JULY 27 - If the relationship between Joseph and Jesus had not given birth to change, foretelling something new, then their close association as parent and child would have been completely unnecessary. So, with schooling behind Him, wood chips now intriguingly clung to Jesus’ fingertips, the pegs hammered straight, just as Joseph instructed. Change and growth compellingly marked the relationship between Joseph and Jesus, the carpenter and his apprentice. Joseph’s firstborn Son was willing to learn how to work as an adult, convincing others by His presence to live honest and pure.

If you are not changing and growing as a result of your relationships, then what is the point of continuing  them? Is there something beyond the fishing trips and the shopping sprees? We must not allow mediocrity to penetrate our lives through the influence of mediocre relationships! Such influence may appear benign, but like cancer, it is indeed deadly.

If you are going to be thrust into a dynamic future, then you must surround yourself with dynamic, excellent individuals who might sometimes even make you feel uncomfortable, as was often the case with the master and his apprentice—father and Son. These individuals compel you, by their very presence, to unearth the excellence within yourself. Embrace their correction and allow them to be honest with you. By doing this, change is inevitable.

Father, I thank You as iron sharpens iron, I sharpen those I call friend.

Your Willingness To Reach Will Determine The Wisdom You Walk In

“Tune your ears to wisdom and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and understanding. Search for them as you would for lost money or hidden treasure.”
Proverbs 2:2-4 (NLT)

“I love all who love Me. Those who search for Me will surely find Me.”
Proverbs 8:17 (NLT)

JULY 26 - Wisdom is available to everyone. Unfortunately, pride keeps many people from reaching for God, causing them to stay imprisoned in their situation. Ask anyone who is in debt, without a job, or in a troubled marriage, “How much time do you spend pursuing God’s Word?” Their answer will be the same—little or none at all.

As His ministry began, Jesus, “Wisdom Himself,” saturated the pages of God’s Holy Word, dumbfounding Israel’s scholarly priests with practical lessons for the young and old. And as He walked in that wisdom, respect for His ministry grew. Solomon tells us, “Wisdom is the principal thing.”

Without wisdom, we cannot fulfill the will of God for our lives, nor can we live above the circumstances of life. Wisdom is the ability to accurately apply God’s Word to every situation. What kind of life do we want? Our answer determines the type of action we need to take. We must take the wisdom of God and apply it, like lotion of aloe, to those areas where we need improvement.

The Word of God can be applied to all situations, but only those willing to embrace God’s thoughts experience true wisdom from Heaven.

I tune my ears to wisdom and concentrate on understanding. I search for them as I would search for lost money or hidden treasure. I love wisdom and humble myself by reaching for God’s understanding.

Excellence Is The Key That Swings Open The Door of Favor

“Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings;
he will not stand before unknown men.”

Proverbs 22:29 (NKJV)

APRIL 21 - Rerouting our exploration of Palestine for a time, we leave the ancient Hebrew culture to enter the dramatic door of modern-day Israel. A notable dignitary in recent Middle-East history, Moshe Dayan (the colorful figure often remembered for his conspicuous black eye patch) was born in 1915 in the first kibbutz (or Jewish cooperative farm) located just south of the Sea of Galilee. An instructor in the underground Jewish militia, Dayan led commando raids against the Vichy French in Syria, assisting in Israel’s 1948 War of Independence. And in 1953, due to his excellence on the battlefield, the door of favor opened to Mr. Dayan when he was promoted to Major General and Chief of Staff.

Promotion is something we all desire. But why are very few ever elevated to a higher level in life? Why do so many individuals remain the exact same as the day we first meet them? Promotion does not come just because we desire it—it resolutely requires us to soar above and beyond that which is asked of us. Whether in marriage, at work, or serving in God’s church, walking in excellence is the key to favor and promotion.

The Bible tells us, “Jesus grew in wisdom and favor with both God and man.” As we grow in favor with both God and man, it causes us to rise to the level of promotion God has for us. Maintaining a great attitude
and respecting and honoring those to whom we are assigned also are vital to attract the favor of God and man. By doing whatever is required of us, we can become the tool used to solve any problem in life.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I excel in what You called me to do; I will stand before kings. I do all things in excellence and continue to grow in wisdom and favor.

Promotion Is The Reward Of Standing Head And Shoulders Above The Rest In The Eyes Of Those Who Matter

“Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and the Master you are serving is Christ.”
Colossians 3:23-24 (NLT)

FEBRUARY 20 - God’s holy name is thrown around quite carelessly these days. But did you know the ancient scribe was required to recite a prayer before ever placing ink upon the papyrus whenever using the Holy One’s name? And if three or more errors were found on a single page, the entire scroll became unusable, the entire transcription needing to be written anew. But scribes who proved exact and cautiously exceeded all others were rewarded by promotion. Senior scribes were often assigned to their own quarters in the palace or temple, adorned in fine garments, and sought out with high regard. This is a principle about being everything you can be—not about competing with those around you. Nevertheless, you are evaluated by your superiors relative to the performance of your co-workers.

You must exceed the requirements of those around you—not because you want to look better, but because you represent the King of kings who lives and abides in you. Our King demands the highest quality work so others may see your example and give glory to God.

We must stand head and shoulders above the rest. We can’t merely stop our efforts when we reach a position that exceeds our current surroundings; we must rise to the absolute highest level possible then stand in faith that God will bring promotion to us. Consistently striving for excellence (as did those senior scribes), coupled with patience and a great attitude, can only bring increase to our life.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I have the privilege of being called by Your name. I work hard and cheerfully at whatever I do as though working for You rather than people.
