It Is A Lonely Journey Across The Bridge Of Truth

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
Matthew 7:13–14 (NKJV)

NOVEMBER 29 - “It’s just a little lie; no one will ever care!” But Jesus does care, and truth is one thing everyone needs; but few are willing to embrace it. The Master of all teachers, the Most High God in human flesh, was not even able to convince men of the truth.

Jesus told us, “…narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life…” truth is not always the easy route because truth exposes people and then sets people free. And indeed it had been a lonely journey for Jesus, a lonely trial, a lonely beating, a lonely suffering on those wooden beams. YET—that lonely journey led somewhere, to the narrow bridge of truth, which the world was soon to discover. We must embrace the truth of God’s Word concerning all areas of our lives if we ever desire to enjoy the rewards that come as a result of eternal life. We must not be of those who turned their backs on the truth that Jesus spoke. As Jesus said to the disciples, so He says to us, “Do you also want to go away?”

I am confident we will all reply as Peter did, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” Crossing the narrow bridge of truth determines how much freedom you one day come to enjoy.

The Prize Of Character Is Always Greater Than The Price Of Adversity

“These trials are only to test your faith, to show that it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold. So if your faith remains strong after being tried by fiery trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”
1 Peter 1:7 (NLT)

NOVEMBER 15 - “Why do they hate me so much? I’ve never done anything to them.” Feeling the silent barbs of her husband’s family, even though they smiled to her face, their snide remarks, subtle stares, and hushed whispers spoke volumes. “They’re just convicted, honey,” the husband tried to reassure his tearful wife. “Every time we come around they see Jesus, and they also see their sin. Things probably won’t change until they change and follow God.”

I admit, in this world you could suffer for choosing Godly character. The Scriptures warn us that this could happen as we follow Christ. One thing is for sure, though, when this life is over and we step into
eternity, there will no longer be any injustice. Whatever price you have to pay for Godly character pales in comparison to the rewards that await you. You will have difficulty here on earth, but if you choose God’s righteousness, you never regret the adversity it may include.

God is very interested in rewarding you. He is gracious and loving beyond comprehension, but we must step up to the plate to receive what we deserve. God’s goodness can only be released by our commitment
to walk in His ways.

The only way we accomplish our task and are rewarded for it is if we choose the prize of character, despite the price of adversity.

The Planning Of Today Determines Your Performance Of Tomorrow

“Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.”
Proverbs 21:5 (NLT)

NOVEMBER 14 - The college student began thinking about his thesis that morning, though its due date was six months away. A twenty-five-year-old teacher surveyed his retirement possibilities, carefully noting the
options. Scampering around the yard as if being hunted, the russettailed squirrel buried black walnuts deep into the ground, even though winter was several weeks in the making.

Good planning and our futures—understanding this principle is vital to the imminent progress of our lives. There are many, however, who are unhappy in life because they’re not where they would like to be. There are others who experience great joy because they reap the rewards of the life they planned. And there are far too many believers who reject the interval of time when God attempts to lay the groundwork and develop their character. This season of planning is necessary to qualify them for what God desires for them to accomplish.

We cannot afford to neglect to plan for our future. What type of builder would attempt to build a skyscraper without first consulting a blueprint? Why is it any different when building a life? God wants to bring all of us a great future, but only those who specifically plan ever experience it. Although opportunity comes to all, only those who ready themselves recognize the opportunity when it comes. Develop a plan to attain the future you desire. It is time to get ready for the future for which you planned.

Daily Confession

I am patient in my season of preparation and I look forward to the future God desires for me. I do not grow weary in well doing, for in due time, I reap the harvest of a better tomorrow.

All Failure Is Undeniably Linked To A Disregarded Instruction

“My child, listen to me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life. I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths. If you live a life guided by wisdom, you won’t limp or stumble as you run. Carry out my instructions; don’t forsake them. Guard them, for they will lead you to a fulfilled life.”
Proverbs 4:10–13 (NLT)

NOVEMBER 13 - Cicero, Illinois – (c. 1925) While mercilessly teased at the electric plant where she worked, the immigrant teenager did not relent; she read her Bible at lunch, no matter what. It didn’t matter that they
dubbed her, “Holy Helen;” “Here comes Holy Helen,” they taunted. “She’s reading her Bible all the day long.” But beginning in her teenage years, all the way until her death in 1980, Helen’s life was successful— spiritually, emotionally, socially, and personally.

The Word of God constantly points us in the direction of success in all areas of life. We have the blueprint of success achieved by the men and women of God who, like Helen, faithfully ran this race before us. This blueprint shows us the reward of a life filled with wisdom. The only time we have breakdowns in our lives is simply because we miss, disobey, or disregard an instruction. We basically miss an ingredient in the recipe of life and our cookies burn. However, when we follow the instructions of the Master and do what He says, we can only expect a life of fulfillment and peace with others.

Remember, satisfaction comes only to those who choose the narrow pathway that leads to success. Today, let us strive for the application of the wisdom of God and watch how our lives are transformed and blessed.

Daily Confession

Father, I listen to Your Word and I do what You say. I live a life guided by wisdom; I won’t limp or stumble as I run. I carry out my instructions and guard them for they lead me to a fulfilled life.

John 6:66–68 (NKJV)

NOVEMBER 12 - Truth is one thing everyone needs, but few are willing to embrace it. The master of all teachers, the Most High God in human flesh, was not even able to convince men of the truth. Genuine Obedience Begins In Your Heart Before It Ever Finds Its Way Into Your Actions

“And I will give you a new heart with new and right desires, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony heart of sin and give you a new, obedient heart.”
Ezekiel 36:26 (NLT)

NOVEMBER 11 - Jesus told the story of two boys who were given an instruction. One said he would do it, and never did. The other say he wouldn’t do what he was asked, but shortly afterwards, he felt conviction in his heart and completed the instruction. Even though this boy denied the instruction with his lips, his sense of obedience permeated all the way to his heart. From there, he went to work, and no doubt afterwards, he returned to his father to inform him that he had indeed obeyed.

I believe very strongly in voicing our desire to obey, but I believe even more strongly in putting our obedience into action. If you are a believer, God gave you a new heart that really desires to obey. But sometimes, heartfelt obedience is imprisoned by a trio of fatal enemies:

• Pride
• Bitterness
• Offense

We must, at all costs, go to battle against this trio of pride, bitterness, and offense to rescue the obedient heart God gave us. Then, we can get to work with our instructions, both from men and from Heaven. And last, we can say, “I obeyed.”

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that You take out my old, stony heart of sin and give me a new, obedient heart in its place. Help me to follow through with every instruction I’m given, both from You and from men.

Everything In Life Will Remain A Seed Until You Choose To Sow It

“I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”
John 12:24 (NIV)

NOVEMBER 10 - Evening gowns, spring dresses, designer jackets, cashmere sweaters; they were stored idly on the shelves of her closet, useless since she lost twenty-nine unsightly pounds. Tugging the boxes down the hall staircase, the surest way to a new wardrobe was giving the old one away to those who truly needed it. She handed the last of the huge cartons to the driver for the women’s shelter. Now that the seed was planted, whatever time it took for the harvest was just fine with her.

We can see that our seed is entirely dormant until we place it in the proper soil. While seeds are in storage, like the clothes stored in the woman’s closet, they are only seeds. But once they are planted, the seeds “die,” and new plants grow in their place. Jesus told us that this would happen. The seeds of our lives remain just that until we strategically plant them in fertile soil. What seeds do you hold in your hand? What have you been unwilling to let go?

Take a good look around your life. Everything you have is a potential seed, but the only way to receive a harvest is to sow. Be aware, though, that the Scriptures speak of seed, time, and harvest. Your harvest will
take time, and you have to be prepared to wait. Rest assured that just as crops spring up without the farmer’s knowledge or assistance, your seed also grows up and brings you a harvest at the appointed time.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that You give seed to the sower and that You cause my harvest to come so I can sow again.

“I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”

Change Is The Result Of Choices Not Chances

“Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Rejoice. Change your ways. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.”
2 Corinthians 13:11 (NLT)

NOVEMBER 7 - Everything revolutionized when the Master approached. The blind grew hopeful, the sick grew optimistic, and the lame saw buoyancy where beforehand, only wretched dismay threaded their unusable limbs. There was a great desire for change, and as that exhilaration of change was in the offing, it was all due to the Master, the Teacher who created positive situations out of lifetimes of negativity.

Change—true, positive change is always a result of personal choice.
We must choose to change, but before we can do that, we need to know
what we want to change. For instance,
• How do you go about making positive changes for your future?
• How do you know exactly what needs to change?

Each of us has a certain degree of insight into our own flaws and shortcomings; those we can, and must, change by ourselves. But each of us also has blind spots that are detrimental to our future success if
we don’t eventually address them. For these, we need the help of those closest to us.

I encourage you to make a practice of asking your closest friends and family members what they would change about you. You may be surprised, or even upset by their answers, but therein rests the key to success. Change. As you open yourself to the suggestions of these individuals who love you, you start taking steps closer to becoming the person you must become.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I have the power to change. Create inside of me all that is pleasing to You!

God Requires Us To Stretch Our Withered Hand Before He Will Stretch His Mighty Hand

“Then He said to the man, reach out your hand. And the man reached it out and it was restored, as sound as the other one.”
Matthew 12:13 (AMP)

NOVEMBER 6 - Never expect God to give what is in His hand before you give what is in yours. Therein lies the principle of faith. You reach first on the basis of the character of the One to whom you are reaching. You must reach out to God first, and then He responds.

As Jesus performed miracle after miracle, He demonstrated the power of God, but He also taught the Israelites faith. Faith that says: Nothing is impossible with God; God can do all things; I believe, although I have yet to see. And as the crowds observed and were astonished, people began to stretch out their hands toward Him in faith, and He responded to their trust.

Never allow yourself to believe you can’t reach. Refuse to tell God what you believe you cannot do, but focus on what the Lord is going to do.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that You are willing to stretch Your hand toward my life. I commit and choose to give You what is in my withered hand in expectation to receive what is in Your mighty hand. I am full of faith. Be it done unto me according to my faith.
