“But we know these things because God has revealed them to us by His Spirit, and His Spirit searches out everything and shows us even God’s deep secrets.”
1 Corinthians 2:10 (NLT)
JULY 11 - Extending his hands over the uneven tabletop, it would take just a little more work until finally finished. Chairs, chests, tables, beams, and doors—the scent of the forest ran deep within Joseph’s blood. But as his firstborn grew into a man, Joseph began to discover that he was more than a carpenter—he was the earthly father of the King of kings. Everything is created for a purpose. We were created for a purpose just as well. Let’s consider Jesus and His cousin, John the Baptist. They didn’t choose what God wanted for their lives. They searched until they discovered their purpose in the Word of God.
God placed a calling on each and every one of us. All of us are called to obey. There is no exemption from obedience. Only upon the road of obedience do we discover our purpose in life. The Creator decides, while the creation discovers. Many Christians attempt to tell the Creator what they are going to do. This is not the way it is intended to be. Our purpose is discovered, not decided.
This does not mean we sit and wait for God to tell us what to do. We must take action and begin to move in the direction of the desires within our heart. Action causes our purpose to become clear. What this means is along the path we walk, we avail ourselves to the written Word of God, spiritual authorities, and the Spirit. We ask the question, “Father, does this bring You pleasure?”
Father, I thank You for revealing secret things to me by Your Spirit. Through my obedience to You, I discover Your purpose for my life and fulfill what You called me to do.

Excellence In Character - Book
Have you tested your foundation lately?
A house built on a faulty foundation soon becomes unfit to live in. Shifting soil causes cracks in the foundation. Gradually those cracks travel upward to the walls and ceilings of the house, causing more and more structural damage — not to mention more headaches to those who live inside. Think of the loss and trouble the homeowners could have avoided if they had only tested the foundation before they moved in!
In the same way, we will save ourselves a lifetime of grief if we will just take the time to test the foundation of our lives — our character — and deal with any cracks or flaws that could later lead to disaster. As author Robb Thompson stresses, “Without a strong, solid foundation of God’s principles undergirding our lives, everything else we attempt to build or accomplish will eventually crumble and fall. In fact, any breakdown in life can almost always be traced back to a breakdown in character.”
Let Dr. Thompson help you explore what God has to say about pursuing excellent character. Then start building a rock-solid, Godly character that will lead you to God’s highest for your life!
