Your Mentor Is The One Whose Voice You Obey, Not Just Listen To

“My children, listen to me. Listen to your father’s instruction.”
Proverbs 4:1 (NLT)

APRIL 11 - Beware of the novice spirit that eventually tries to viciously attack each person as they increase in knowledge. Who is this novice spirit? It is the one who thinks they know so much that they rise as high
as a New York skyscraper, towering disdainfully above their leader, seeing him or her as stuck in their ways; this person now possesses spotted learning.

Please understand—everyone knows unique things that no one else knows; hence, I may know a few things my authority doesn’t, but the servant is never above the master. I have seen many talented protégés commit financial, emotional, and spiritual suicide. We must understand that we don’t learn much of what our mentor taught us until we are pressed to do it ourselves; only then do we realize how little we knew without them.

You may possess knowledge, but your mentor has experience. Even though a student may know plenty about their chosen field, their mentor has a vast knowledge of types of people, dangerous pitfalls, and real-life situations. A mentor has priceless information and a treasure chest of wisdom. Since history does repeat itself, we don’t have time to make the same mistakes as those above us, so we must learn from them. Are you living as the attentive protégé, or the studied mentor? The Queen of Sheba, though powerful and wealthy, postured herself in the position of an attentive protégé, sitting at the table of King Solomon, becoming teachable and submitted to the wise concepts he learned from the Holy God. Carefully choose your posture—it affects the rest of your life.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I am submitted and obedient to those You place over me. I am teachable without strife and rebellion.

Building A Heart Of Love Vol. One - CD

5 CDs

I John 4:16 says, “God is love…” – and when we walk in Him we will walk in love (Ephesians 5:1-2). But if walking in love was that easy, we would all get along famously! So, how do we walk this “love walk?” How do we love? Who do we love? And, most importantly…what does God think about love?

In this first volume, Dr. Robb Thompson examines God’s definition of love. You will discover that God expresses love in actions, rather than words – rather than saying, “I love you,” God shows us through His deeds. Looking to Jesus as the ultimate example of love, you will discover how to “build a heart of love” and, therefore, have the heart of God in every situation you encounter.

Your Rewards In Life Are In Direct Proportion To The Problems You Are Willing To Solve For Others

“Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”
Colossians 3:23 (NLT)

March 14 - Salt water, parsley, horseradish, and now a hard boiled egg curiously rest upon the Jewish table. Why a hard boiled egg? Rolled or roasted over a fire or stove, the egg represents the many sacrifices offered to God upon the Hebrew altar. And sacrifice comes in many ways. It is easy to understand why so many people go unrewarded in life—they rarely seem to understand the correlation between the sacrifice of solving problems that eventually leads to the sure road of promotion. Most people stop progressing upwardly the moment their present environment no longer pleases them. Our value is linked to our willingness to solve problems for those God placed over us…in our lives…at our jobs…and even in our marriage. When we begin to passionately solve problems, we receive the favor necessary to bring us the promotion we desire.

Many simply exist at their jobs and in their daily routines, sailing roughly through life’s meandering seas, unwilling to serve those around them. We can never grumble about life and expect the blessings of Heaven. Although productivity plays a great role within our lives, it is our attitude that causes our productivity to become pleasing. Everyone loves to be around an individual with a great attitude. Therefore, we must cheerfully and sacrificially solve the problems of those we serve. Let us ask: What problems can we solve for our authorities? What can we do to make their lives more productive?

The sacrificial fulfillment of these answers brings you ever-increasing promotion. Choose to be a problem solver today.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I do everything cheerfully as unto You. I possess a great attitude. I am a problem solver and continue to walk in ever-increasing favor.

Live Everyday As Though You Have Something Good To Give

“Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.”
2 Corinthians 9:10 (NIV)

FEBRUARY 1 - Yesterday we talked about promotion, and how the priest Mattathias began the Feast of Hanukkah, which is still celebrated in Jewish homes today. But do you know the story behind the “Menorah,” the nine-candled stand that sits in many Jewish homes during this celebratory time? While the Jews celebrated the return of their temple, they encountered a lamp with only a one-day supply of oil.

Miraculously, God gave enough illumination to the candelabrum, allowing it to burn for eight extra days and nights. During Hanukkah, one candle in the menorah is lit each day to remember this miracle that God so wondrously gave. The Scriptures promise us that God gives seed to the person who desires to sow. Some may say that they having nothing to give, but that is never the case as far as God is concerned. Take a look around and think:

  • What do I have that can become a blessing for another?
  • Do I have something material like money, clothes, books, etc.?
  • What about intangible things like a great attitude, a thankful heart, or a helping hand?

You always have something you can sow. God would be a liar if you truly had nothing. Change your mind about how you see your life. Rather than looking for people to solve your problems, find out what you can do to solve theirs. As always, God is faithful to His Word, giving illumination, providing seed as you “enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.”

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You for providing me with seed to sow and for making me a blessing wherever I go.
