Your Promotion From God Is Greatly Dependent On Your Submission Towards Men

“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all Godliness and reverence.”
1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NKJV)

OCTOBER 13 - One of the most damaging things we can ever do to ourselves is disregard a person in authority over us. In doing so, we actually show a disregard for God’s authority in our lives. We forget that every one of our thoughts, words, and actions is a seed we plant in the field God gave us.

A disobedient individual is someone who continually shows disregard for the instructions that are required of him. He might even be a nice person; however, when an authority asks him to do something, he just doesn’t seem to find the time to do it. We cannot operate that way in the Kingdom of God if we expect to be used by Him. With God, everything is very precise.

  • Does He forgive us? Yes.
  • Does He love us? Absolutely.
  • Does He think we are wonderful? We are tops in His eyes!
  • But are we going to be used by Him? No!

Why not? Because Proverbs 25:19 says, “Putting confidence in an unreliable person is like chewing with a toothache or walking on a broken foot.”

God does not put His confidence in an unreliable person because He doesn’t want to put Himself through that kind of pain. Let’s be reliable and prove our love for Him by respecting those in authority
over us.

Father, I thank You that I pray and intercede on behalf of my authorities and I give You thanks for placing them in my life.

It Is Impossible For God To Provide You With A Future Unless You Willingly Make Things Right In The Present

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Matthew 6:34 (NKJV)

OCTOBER 12 - “I know you have promised us a house, God,” the young woman prayed tearfully, “but when is it coming? And where is it going to be? And how is it all going to come about? And…” People who live by their emotions often want to know what God is going to do with them in the future. However, they haven’t come to terms with this basic principle of character stated above. There is no bright future for us if we refuse to confront the weaknesses in our character; for as soon as we arrive at tomorrow, it is renamed today—complete with the same problems that limited us yesterday. That is why we must thoroughly fix where we are right now.

Therefore, it is essential to ask the needed questions and find out what must be fixed in our lives before we can be promoted to the next level. After making the necessary changes, we must then ask more of the right questions so we can move further along the road toward excellence.

We must examine our present beliefs and actions, discover what hinders our walk with God, and then take the necessary steps to deal with those weaknesses. As we make things right in the present, God promotes us.

Father, I thank You that I examine myself daily and deal with any weakness or flaw in my life. I look forward to my future as I take care of my present. I do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow worries about itself.

The Character You Possess Tomorrow Is Linked To The Choices You Make Today

“Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Christ did.”
1 John 2:6 (NLT)
“Follow God’s example in everything you do, because you are His dear children. Live a life filled with love for others, following the example of Christ, who loved you and gave Himself as a sacrifice to take away your sins. And God was pleased, because that sacrifice was like sweet perfume to Him.”
Ephesians 5:1-2 (NLT)

OCTOBER 1 - Our character is fashioned by every decision we make. Every choice, however insignificant, contains within it a series of consequences. There are times when we may make mistakes, stumble, and experience temporary defeat. Nevertheless, we must choose to rise above those disappointments, get up, and brush ourselves off.

Our example must be Jesus, whose character cannot be formed within us except by effort and daily practice. Teaching about such emotional issues as family, humility, and the workplace, Jesus realized that, however difficult, we need to exercise self-discipline and self-control by responding according to principle, not according to emotions. Circumstances themselves do not determine who we are, nor do they alter our character; it is how we respond that reveals who we really are.

Our lives are a result of the paths we choose to take. Life is a series of choices, not a series of chances. We can only sculpt our character into that of Christ by embracing Godly principles above human emotions.

Father, I thank You that I live my life as Christ did. I follow Your example in everything I do, loving others and following the example of Christ.

Your Response To Trials Reveals Your Level Of Maturity

“But Joseph refused. ‘Look,’ he told her, ‘my master trusts me with everything in his entire household. No one here has more authority than I do! He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I ever do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.’ She kept putting pressure on him day after day, but he refused to sleep with her, and he kept out of her way as much as possible.”
Genesis 39:8-10 (NLT)

SEPTEMBER 23 - The sharp aroma of the freshly trodden concrete wafted through the chilly November air; their new home’s foundation was finally complete. “Most important part,” the builder declared. “If the foundation’s not right, might as well start all over again.” Undeniably, the foundation of our lives (the most important part) is our integrity. The Bible repeatedly speaks of how important it is for us to have integrity
as the foundation of our character. Satan understands that if he damages a man’s character, he destroys his life. The list of Godly men who bowed to his temptations is countless.

Temptation is not exclusive to just one area of our lives; Satan tempts us in many avenues. He is like a lion prowling and seeking whom he may devour, viciously preying on those who diligently do the Word of God and build the Kingdom of God. And he comes with full force as he did with Jesus, hoping to knock us down completely. When Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus responded as a true man of integrity. He used his sharply-compacted foundation of the Scriptures and spoke the truth of God’s Word. Now we must do the same. Wherever you are tempted to doubt God’s faithfulness, speak aloud the promises of the Word of God, and continue to do so until He delivers you.

Father, I thank You that no temptation overtakes me. You are faithful, and You do not allow me to be tempted beyond what I am able to bear. You give me a way of escape.

Your Life Today Is A Result Of The Thoughts Of Yesterday

“Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…”
2 Corinthians 10:5 (NKJV)

SEPTEMBER 21 - The life you experience tomorrow is the direct result of the thoughts you plant today.

“I wish I was dead.” The hideous words were scrawled upon the dingy white wall of her closet; a shocking summary of the nagging, negative voices that attempted to overwhelm the teenager’s muddled mind. But just as soon as they came—“Aren’t you dressed yet?” totally unaware, her loving mother suddenly interrupted the girl’s tormented mind.

“You know it’s almost time for church, honey.” Dismissing the thoughts as hastily as they came, “I really do have a lot to live for. I don’t know where those thoughts came from; I know there’s something I am supposed to do.” When nagging, distracting, negative voices begin to torment your mind, you have to make the wise choice by saying:

  • No, I’m not listening to that!
  • I’m going to believe the Word, no matter what.
  • I’m not going to give up; I’m not going to yank God’s Word out of my heart.
  • God’s Word is everything to me.

No matter what you hear or from whom, search and discover what God has to say about it. Don’t care what anybody else says; find out what God says, and that’s what you should believe! That’s what you should plant securely inside your heart!

Father, I thank You that I cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against knowledge of You, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

Studying God’s Thoughts Will Give You Confidence In Prayer

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”
1 John 5:14-15 (NKJV)

SEPTEMBER 19 - Confidence is a crucial attribute in a believer’s life. Isn’t it interesting to see how much confidence we have in the natural things of life—fully convinced that the sun will set, the grass will grow, and the birds will sing, but when it comes to God, we often walk in doubt? Friends, it was never designed to be this way. Let me give you an example. Ask any American today if they will ever starve. With a quick, confident retort their response will be a resounding “no.” They are absolutely convinced that when they are hungry, they can and will get food to satisfy their hunger. Not only are they confident that food will satisfy them, but they stop whatever they are doing to satisfy that hunger.

Quoting Scripture when tempted in the wilderness, Jesus continually used the Word of God as a ready defense throughout His earthly ministry, confident in its power and authenticity. With Jesus as our example, why are we also not confident in God’s Word? We have God’s exact thoughts scripted for us on paper, yet we continually doubt Him.

When we go to God in prayer, the Bible says we can be confident in this one thing; if we ask anything according to His will (His Word), we can confidently know that we HAVE what we prayed for. Notice it did not say “will have” but it said, “We have.” Finances, health, wisdom, peace, whatever the situation may be, find out His will and pray in accordance to the Word of God. Subsequently, stand confident, knowing God is faithful to perform what He promised.

Father, I thank You I am confident that I can pray in line with Your Word and You hear me. I know that since You hear me, I have whatever I ask.

The Fog Of Confusion Surrounds The Man Who Is Unwilling To Submit To Authority

“How I hated discipline! If only I had not demanded my own way! Oh, why didn’t I listen to my teachers? Why didn’t I pay attention to those who gave me instruction? I have come to the brink of utter ruin, and now I must face public disgrace.”
Proverbs 5:11-14 (NLT)

SEPTEMBER 8 - Utilizing the beauty and intrigue of nature, combined with illustrative truths presented from life, Jesus’ usage of the parable surpassed much of His other teaching. While exercising this form of  instruction, Jesus clearly explained the principle above when teaching the parable of the man who planted a vineyard in Luke 20. The entire parable focuses on the authority God established in the Body of Christ. Notice, Jesus did not say God came personally to gather the harvest. Instead, God sent His servants three times, and the fourth time, He sent His Son. This is the authority God sent, and He continues today to send authority into our lives. He waits to see if we will subject ourselves to them or respond as the tenants who disregarded their responsibilities.

In God’s eyes, if we reject His delegated authority, we reject Him. This rebellion prevents God from blessing our lives. Authority is established to lead and guide us down the joyous path of God’s will for our lives.

If we are obediently subject to authority, then, and only then, can God use us for His glory; submission, therefore, is bowing our knee to God through a man. We do not submit to man, but to God. Unless we set aside our flesh, we are not able to receive instruction and submit to those called to lead us into the promises God has for us.

Father, I thank You that I am obedient and submissive to those placed above me. I have a beneficial future because I give them reason to lead and guide me joyfully.

The Main Ingredient To Enjoying The Rewards Of Life Is Genuine Compliance

“If you will only obey Me and let Me help you, then you will have plenty to eat.”
Isaiah 1:19 (NLT)

AUGUST 19 - Obedience simply means doing what God instructs us in His Word. It means to live up to the knowledge we receive. God told Abram, “Abram, I want you to move from your comfortable situation and go to a new country.” Abram obeyed God. If God talks to us about something, we must do it. Our Heavenly Father expects each of His children to yield to Him with wholehearted obedience. The entrance into this new life with Christ demands the vow of absolute obedience. As Christians, we must surrender our whole being, exactly as Jesus did, to be, think, speak, and act according to the will of God; it is not enough to just agree with Him. It is only through obedience that our agreement is proven, and in doing so, we have access to God’s favor and abundant blessings. As Jesus continued His sermon, distinct commands were given.  Instructions such as:

  • Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad when persecuted.
  • You are the salt of the world, so don’t lose your flavor.
  • You are the light of the world, so don’t hide your light.
  • You know it’s not right to kill, but neither should you be angry without cause.

Jesus knew that God requires obedience. Every act of our obedience is an added ingredient unto a just reward. Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 that obedience is the very essence of salvation. Obedience opens the door to all that God has to give—most importantly, an intimate relationship with God Himself.

Father, I thank You that I do all my authority instructs. I obey and submit to my spiritual leaders and I humble myself as Your willing servant.

Your Response To A Man Of God Determines Heaven’s Response To You

“So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days.”
1 Kings 17:15 (NKJV)

AUGUST 18 - People of all sizes, shapes, and circumstances hovered around the mountain’s rocky base, not only Galileans, but folks as far away as Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the River Jordan. Gathered to hear the Teacher, this prophet and carpenter from Nazareth, their respect for the Teacher caused a hush to settle over the crowd. His words meandered into their ears and wafted down into their hearts and souls, “Blessed, Blessed, Blessed.” The Teacher said the word “blessed” nine times in all. What a strange way of speaking! What an odd way of delivering a religious message. But with each compelling sentence, the people’s response was one of sheer, unwavering respect for the Man of God who thundered before them.

  • Whatever you respect is whatever steadily increases inside your life.
  • Stay very sensitive to respect and honor the men and women God assigns to lead your life.
  • Look for opportunities to express that respect and honor, for before honor can become a harvest in your life, it must first be your seed.

Grasp and live this concept and you will operate at the highest levels of life.

Father, I thank You that I do all my authority instructs. I obey and submit to my spiritual leaders and I humble myself as Your willing servant.

You Cannot Regain Through Repentance That Which You Lost By Disobedience

“Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, ‘Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.’”
Numbers 20:12 (NKJV)

AUGUST 10 - When we observe the lives of Adam, Moses, David, Samson, Judas, and even Lucifer, we see that Scripture continually exemplifies this principle. Still, there are many people who truly believe God is a God of the second chance. The Scripture, however, does not support this teaching. God is a God of fresh starts, but never will we regain the same position as the day we disobeyed God. If one were to fail a class, he would not start where he failed; he would have to repeat the entire class. Although he had a fresh start, he could not regain the position he once held in that class, nor could he recoup his time.

Let’s take a closer look at Moses. God told him to speak to the rock, but Moses decided he was going to disobey God. Out of frustration, instead of speaking to the rock, he struck it with all his might. Then notice what God said, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.” God did not allow Moses to enter the Promised Land because of his disobedience. Just one act of disobedience kept Moses from enjoying the pleasures of Canaan.

We must clearly understand—God is serious about our obedience; life is not merely a game to Him. He can only reward the obedient. He desires for all of us to possess the Promised Land, but only those who choose the avenue of obedience enjoy the fruit of Canaan.

Father, I thank You that I am willing and obedient, therefore, I eat the best of the land. My obedience proves my trust in You and I choose to obey Your instruction.
