Everything In Life Will Remain A Seed Until You Choose To Sow It

“I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”

John 12:24 (NIV)

NOVEMBER 9 - Evening gowns, spring dresses, designer jackets, cashmere sweaters; they were stored idly on the shelves of her closet, useless since she lost twenty-nine unsightly pounds. Tugging the boxes down the hall staircase, the surest way to a new wardrobe was giving the old one away to those who truly needed it. She handed the last of the huge cartons to the driver for the women’s shelter. Now that the seed was planted, whatever time it took for the harvest was just fine with her.

We can see that our seed is entirely dormant until we place it in the proper soil. While seeds are in storage, like the clothes stored in the woman’s closet, they are only seeds. But once they are planted, the seeds “die,” and new plants grow in their place. Jesus told us that this would happen. The seeds of our lives remain just that until we strategically plant them in fertile soil. What seeds do you hold in your hand? What have you been unwilling to let go?

Take a good look around your life. Everything you have is a potential seed, but the only way to receive a harvest is to sow. Be aware, though, that the Scriptures speak of seed, time, and harvest. Your harvest will
take time, and you have to be prepared to wait. Rest assured that just as crops spring up without the farmer’s knowledge or assistance, your seed also grows up and brings you a harvest at the appointed time.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that You give seed to the sower and that You cause my harvest to come so I can sow again.

God’s Word encourages us to stand and be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. Philippians tells us to press toward God’s mark. The Proverbs 31 woman is energetic and strong. Now is not the time to grow weary in well-doing.

Our strength is from the Lord. As you listen to and confess these scriptures you will be empowered with strength and able to face the pressures that come your way.

Your Seed Of Today Will Create Your Harvest Of Tomorrow

“But this I say: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”
2 Corinthians 9:6 (NKJV)

AUGUST 2 - As Roman flags fluttered in the warm breezes of Palestine, restlessness indignantly characterized the land, oozing like olive oil from a fractured lamp. An unpleasant reminder that Israel was not yet free, faint whispers of a King, a Liberator, the long-awaited Messiah, rode on the coattails of those breezes: hopeful, ready, uncertain. And as John began sowing the seed, baptizing in the River Jordan, Jesus and Heaven prepared to reap the harvest. The law of sowing and reaping persistently governs your entire life, whether or not you realize it! As with any law, you can either work it to your advantage, or experience the consequences it may bring. God gave each of us a method to create the future He called us to live; He does not just give us what we want because we ask for it. Your seed of today creates your harvest of tomorrow, therefore:

• What kind of relationships do you desire to attain?
• What kind of life would you like to live?
• How much money would you like to acquire?

God tells us, “Whatever a man sows that shall he reap.” So often we erroneously believe that God is going to make our relationships work, give us a fantastic life, and shower finances on us like a steady drizzle in the middle of spring. But if we are honest with ourselves, we know this is not the case in our personal life. God told Joshua, “You will make your way prosperous and you will have good success if you meditate, speak, and act on My Word.” What you sow you certainly reap. We must always remember, however, we can never harvest from a seed never sown. Choose to sow your life today!

Father, I thank You that I sow bountifully and therefore I reap bountifully.

Consistent Sowing Is The Precursor For Consistent Reaping

“Don’t get tired of doing what is good. Don’t get discouraged and give up,
for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.”

Galatians 6:9 (NLT)

FEBRUARY 23 - Thirty-one wonderful years of being a Christian! And what is the greatest negligence I have witnessed in the body of Christ? Consistency. So very few are prepared to consistently do something until they attain the desired harvest they are promised. After the early October rains, the Palestinian farmer rose at dawn to sow seeds, either by hand or from a box attached to his plow. Farm owners, slaves, young men and women, children, just about everyone labored from sunrise to sunset, consistently planting seeds in the ground. Even as darkness enveloped the land, many farmers stayed in the fields, relentlessly protecting their crops. It is quite intriguing that God promised all of us the same blessings, but why do some walk in more blessing
than others?

I don’t ever want to come to a point in my life and discover I could have had something if I would have only stuck with it. In America, it is easy to move from one way of doing things to another. We have a very difficult time being patient because we begin to believe the rest of the world is getting what belongs to us. We then undertake and institute the world’s philosophy instead of God’s, mistakenly looking to the world to show us how to get what we desire.

The Bible says, “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich and He adds no sorrow to it.” God’s way may seem to take a little longer than we would like, but if we continue to consistently do what He commands, we will see our desired harvest. The key is unfailing consistency!

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I do not give up and grow weary in doing good. I am unfailing in my life, and I undertake tasks according to Your standards and not the world’s.

The Measure Of The Seed You Scatter Will Determine The Size Of The Harvest You Reap

“He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly and he who sows generously will also reap generously.”
2 Corinthians 9:6 (NIV)

FEBRUARY 12 - The forefathers of the United States of America sowed an abundant seed, going far beyond anyone else’s visions and dreams. Following years of late-night wrangling with the Continental Congress, along with the agony of the vicious Revolutionary War, the new government (one designed to honor man’s right to worship God) was underway. Its top executive, however, needed a place for him and his family to dwell. By the year 1800, the “President’s House” was completed and occupied. But fourteen short years later, British troops brazenly set ablaze the grand edifice. By the next morning (what many call a “sign” from God), a hurricane with tremendous winds doused the raging flames, saving the great house’s shell; the charred skeleton was amazingly harvested, reaped as a symbol of freedom for all.

As you study this principle, you may find yourself in a season of lack in your finances. If we desire any type of increase in our life, we must be willing to sow further in the financial arena than ever before. But remember—without sowing a seed, there can be no harvest to reap.

Everyone can give while things are going well. But those who give during the times of struggle, as did America’s forefathers, really impress the heart of God. We must establish a plan of giving more to God so He can sequentially begin to release more finances in our lives. Let me encourage you—continue the flow of giving during times of lack. Do you recall the widow woman who gave two pennies when she had barely anything to give? Jesus favored the widow woman because she gave out of her lack, not her abundance. I encourage you to do the same.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I am a generous giver. I sow abundantly knowing I will reap abundantly.
