The Seed You Cast Upon The Waves Of Eternity Will Return Upon The Shores Of This Life

“Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days.”
Ecclesiastes 11:1 (NKJV)

MARCH 30 - Faith and patience are key factors in the process of sowing seed. Anyone who has been a giver for any length of time understands there is a vital season of waiting between every seed sown and every harvest grown. Notice the scripture above states, “…it will come back to you after many days.” There is a season of time between when we sow our seed, and when we reap a harvest.

One’s unwillingness to wait patiently has aborted the harvest of countless seeds. You must be willing to trust God through the seasons of waiting. Israel’s shepherds had a choice—they could either sow superior
seeds with their neighbors by being careful where their flocks grazed, or they could sow unfavorable seeds by allowing their animals to roam freely upon other people’s properties, instead of waiting for suitable lands. Their peers viewed those who were impatient as dishonest.

Impatience weakens our faith to the point where we begin to entertain thoughts that sowing doesn’t work. We must keep up our faith, remain patient, and decisively obey the laws of God concerning sowing and reaping…then our harvest is assured. Friends, never grow weary, for in due time, you shall receive your overflowing harvest.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I am a giver. I know that with the measure I give, my harvest will be given back to me; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing shall men give unto my bosom.

Obedience Is The Key That Unlocks The Door To God’s Purpose For Your Life

“If you keep yourself pure, you will be a utensil God can use for His purpose. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.”
2 Timothy 2:21 (NLT)

MARCH 18 - How would you react if you were in dire need of an operation, but every surgeon in town refused to take time to sterilize his equipment? Would you take the chance of being slashed open with dirty, bacterialaden instruments?

Cleanliness possesses an immeasurable worth in almost every area in of life. And since God has a specific purpose and plan for each of our lives, this unique plan can only be discovered through daily obedience
– keeping ourselves pure, clean, and ready. The moment we begin to obey is the precise moment that destiny’s door begins to swing adventurously open. The dreams and desires God has for our futures are contained within the seed of diligent obedience. It is a sad thing, but many individuals never discover what they were meant to do here on earth simply because they refuse to obey.

Satan attempts to keep the door shut tight to the room of our assignment; but God promises that our obedience is the strategic key to unlock that closed door. Heaven always uses the obedient to do great and mighty things in the earth. But before Heaven can use us, we must change our thinking from “Obedience is all God requires of me,” to, “I have an assignment and a divine purpose, and obedience will take me to it.” I believe we are of those who will do great and mighty things for our King in the earth, don’t you?

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I am a pure utensil You can use for Your purpose. My life is clean, and I am ready for You to use me for every good work. I hear Your voice, and I am obedient to Your Word.

Obedience Is The Only Evidence That Stands Up In The Court Of Heaven

“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
John 14:21 (NKJV)

MARCH 10 - The Passover Seder is an ancient holiday meal symbolizing the Jews’ escape from Egypt. Because of their love for God, Jewish communities even today still celebrate this festive meal. The apostle James said, “You have faith and I have works, show me your faith without your works and I will show you my faith by my works.” Only when you obey what is written do Heaven and earth know your love for God. Jesus confirmed it saying, “So that the world may know that I love the Father, I do as He commanded.”

True love can be plainly seen; false love only wants to be obnoxiously heard. God rarely verbally declared His love—He simply showed it. You will notice that the Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave…” (John 3:16). “For God commendeth His love towards us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). It doesn’t say that God verbally declared His love to His people. No, He demonstrated His love by sending a gift. Not just any gift might I add; a very costly gift—the best He had to offer.

God proved His love through His Son. And we must prove our love, loving God as passionately as the Jews celebrate the Passover Seder, through our faithful obedience to His commands.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I have Your commandments and I choose to keep them. I love You and continually prove my love to You by obeying Your commands.

Obedience Begins With Your Heart Long Before It Ever Reaches Your Feet

“And I will give you a new heart with new and right desires, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony heart of sin and give you a new, obedient heart.”
Ezekiel 36:26 (NLT)

MARCH 8 - Obeying the dietary needs given in God’s Word, the Jews served a number of beans and peas, necessary for protein and nourishment. Petrified beans have even been discovered in recent excavations.
Without proper obedience, those ancient Jews would have walked around undernourished and frail.

Jesus told the story of two boys who were given an instruction. One said he would do it, but he never did. The other said he wouldn’t do what he was asked, but shortly afterward, he felt conviction in his heart and completed the instruction. Even though this boy denied the instruction with his lips, his sense of obedience permeated all the way to his heart. From there, he went to work, and no doubt afterward returned to his father to tell him he obeyed.

I believe very strongly in voicing our desire to obey, but I believe even more strongly in putting our obedience into action. If you are a believer, you have a new heart that really desires to obey. But sometimes,
heartfelt obedience is imprisoned by pride, bitterness, and offense. We must go to battle to rescue the obedient heart God gave us. Then, we can get to work with our instructions, both from men and from Heaven. And last, we can declare, “I obeyed.”

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that You took out my old, stony heart of sin and gave me a new, obedient heart in its place. I follow through with every instruction I’m given, both from You and from delegated authority.

Obedience Is The Most Vital Ingredient To Intimacy With God

“When you obey Me, you remain in My love, just as I obey My Father and remain in His love.”
John 15:10 (NLT)

MARCH 3 -By omitting the essential ingredient of obedience, we cannot exhibit the confidence, boldness, and liberty needed to maintain an intimate relationship with God. Our obedience is vital to the maintenance of daily fellowship with God because He cannot continue a relationship with anyone who is unwilling to comply with His instructions. Unfortunately, people continually attempt to have a relationship with God while they live in sin. God does not “incline His ear” nor does He open His mouth to any individual who omits obedience to His Word from his daily spiritual faire. Hasn’t God called us to live
overcoming and supernatural lives? Indeed. Therefore, He intensely desires to have an intimate relationship with all His children, but only by way of the compelling ingredient of obedience is that made possible.

The more we obey God, the closer we begin to walk with Him. What a privilege it is to have fellowship with God as we intimately hear and willingly carry out what He instructs. Let us never take for granted the grace that has been shown to us. Obedience—never fellowship with God without it!

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that as I obey Your Word, I have the confidence, boldness, and liberty to maintain an intimate relationship with Jesus. I remain in Your love because I obey Your Word.

The Fragrance That Pleases God Is The Aroma Of Your Hourly Obedience

“Samuel replied, ‘Has the Lord as much pleasure in your burnt offerings
and sacrifices as in your obedience? Obedience is far better than sacrifice.
He is much more interested in your listening to Him than
in your offering the fat of rams to Him.’”

1 Samuel 15:22 (TLB)

FEBRUARY 11 - Obedience is the only thing God ever explicitly requires. Although a faithful and loving God, precious few are quick to obey His instructions. On occasion, what God tells us may seem utterly illogical, or brutally disappointing. It may also, at diverse times, keep us from getting something we desire. Yet, it is not until we obey Him without restraint that our obedience infiltrates Heaven with its pleasant aroma.

The apostle Paul instructs us to “present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is our reasonable service.” We must give up claim to our childish wants, individual desires, and selfish reasoning so we can stalwartly obey our Lord.

God delights in our obedience, and requires us to conform to His instruction. The obedience we offer Him far exceeds our daily sacrifice, since God does not ask us to make a grand sacrifice; He simply requests daily obedience in the little things. That is the only sacrifice He is pleased to accept; it is the way He crafted us.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that I am willing and obedient and I eat the best of the land. I understand that You delight in obedience far more than any sacrifice I can offer. I choose to obey Your instruction, for my desire is to please You.

Obedience Is The Conduit By Which God’s Blessings Flow To Your Life

“But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you…”
Deuteronomy 28:15 (NKJV)

FEBRUARY 4 - Although God desires to reward us all, He says in Deuteronomy 28:15, “If you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God…these curses will come upon you and overtake you.” If you and I disobey, we are severed like a weed from God’s hand of blessing. You can alter your future by applying Godly principles to your life. You cannot expect any future contrary to the principles you live. The principles you enjoy today crucially determine the future you experience tomorrow.

If you want financial security, there are specific principles to which you must adhere. If you desire to walk in divine health, there are also principles you must follow. Whatever future you desire, you must apply the principles that bring those desires to pass. In order to continue any future progress, you must have a system by which you evaluate your progress, and that is what obedience to God’s Word does for you.

Obedience Is The Key That Opens The Door For Heaven’s Direction

“Now the Lord had said to Abram: ‘Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you’ …so Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him.”
Genesis 12:1, 4 (NKJV)

JANUARY 25 - Psalm 37:23 tells us, “The steps of the Godly are directed by the Lord, for He delights in every detail of their lives.” When a young child takes his first steps, unexpected things happen—misshapen movements, irregular strides, and hard falls. But as this same child listens to tender, reassuring parental instruction, he gets back up. Almost every parent loves to cheer on their child as they take those initial steps.

God does not and cannot direct the steps of everyone; only those who choose to comply, those who listen with ready ears to His instructions. We see a man in Genesis who chose to comply with the voice of God. God commanded Abram to travel to a place about which he knew nothing. Abram’s response was immediate, unparalleled obedience. Because of Abram’s readiness to act, God was able to direct his steps. Not every path the Lord leads you on is freshly paved, bordered with colorful flowers, and totally detour free—actually, quite the opposite is true. Nevertheless, God’s paths consistently lead you to an abundant harvest.

Remember, Heaven can only direct the steps of the individual who is willing to act upon God’s Word, but we must choose to immediately obey His promptings. As we quickly comply to Heaven’s orders by taking those first steps of obedience with the innocence of a young child, we experience God’s mighty hand of precise direction, abundant provision, and steadfast protection.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You for directing my steps so that no sin comes upon my life. Thank You that You delight in every detail of my life. I act upon Your Word, knowing that Your mighty hand directs me.
