Admission Stops Persecution

“‘Because of what you have done, I, the Lord, will cause your own household to rebel against you. I will give your wives to another man, and he will go to bed with them in public view. You did it secretly, but I will do this to you openly in the sight of all Israel.’ Then David confessed to Nathan, ‘I have sinned against the Lord.’”
2 Samuel 12:11-13 (NLT)

MAY 13 - Just as Israel was relentlessly tormented by their Arab neighbors with border disputes, village skirmishes, and perilous raids, so David was equally tormented when hiding his sin. But when Samuel came to prosecute David, David admitted his sin, and the prosecution stopped. Once you fully admit that you were wrong, what else can be said about you? Nothing. All accusations and prosecutions must stop when you stand up and say, “I’m wrong. It’s my fault.”

Many people try to cover up their mistakes in the hope that no one will expose them or that when they do, they won’t be able to find the guilty party. But that is not what integrity demands of us. When we drop the ball, the first thing we must do is pick the ball right back up by admitting to ourselves, and to our superiors, that we are wrong.

While admission doesn’t stop consequences, it does sever any attempt by the enemy to speak fear into our life. God promises that our integrity delivers us. One of our responsibilities, then, is to own up to our own shortcomings, no matter what it may initially cost. In the long run, the cost is of greater worth than continuing to destructively hide our mistakes.

Daily Confession

Father, I thank You that You deliver me when I walk in integrity. I choose to take responsibility for my mistakes, knowing that it saves me from destruction.

Power Over Fear - Confession CD

Jesus said the thief comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy (John 10:10). One of Satan’s most powerful tools of destruction is fear. The ruthless tyrant of fear will paralyze you and control every decision you make. It desires to rule and dominate you, until you cower in a corner and helplessly watch it destroy everything you are.

Your Heavenly Father did not design you to live a life of shrinking back in fear. Fear may be a cruel master, but it doesn’t have to be your master! In this powerful audio CD from the Great Exchange Collection, Dr. Robb Thompson helps you defeat the giant of fear with scriptural confessions from the invincible Word of God. Let God set you free from fear’s control, once and for all!
